No idea why people want to see Dempster dropped after Sat's game. Towards the end, he actually did a bit of the clean possession, direct running, long kicking thing that we'd been lacking all game.

It's all about match-ups. Do Brisbane have any small forwards who can really hurt us, who we can't deal with by rotating the likes of Schneider and Malceski onto them? If not, Bevan can go.

Bevan's OOBOTF when running free and in the clear, trying to deliver to BBBH, was a perfect summary of the team's whole day. But:

        a) while Bevan's disposal needs improving, the fact that people only mention the negatives means that there is no balanced assessment of where he's at-- I've yet to see anyone mention the times that Bevan has hit Hall on a tight lead from 45 metres with little margin for error on the kick; which has happened at least 3 times in the last few weeks

        b) as others have alluded to, it's not generally Bevan's job to be the guy in the team creating run from half back and producing a quick scything movement from defence to attack. The fact that Kennelly got pantsed was a larger contribution to our defeat, than anything Bevan did or didn't do.

Ouch, although true. I think the look on Bevans face as he collected his medal said as much too. He was hopeless against the Cats and will surely be dropped this weekend. Even Matthews would be better than Bevan at the moment.

Yes there is a distinct lack of criticism for Kennelly in this thread. Worst game I have seen him play pretty much ever. There were dropped marks, poor attempts at spoils, inopportune slips at critical times, and poor disposals galore.

Let's hope he improves dramatically before the finals start.

He had an absolute shocker. But I guess it's pretty rare so not much comment.

He'd probably been roughed up in the change rooms for speaking to the media about Davis.

Yes, but his quotes did seem to come straight from Roos' media handbook.

What about Fosdike? I am a fan but his disposals yesterday stood out as shocking.

why is everyone saying dempster or bevan should be dropped for davis? davis is a forward- those other two are backs- how would that work? i think reg grundy should go for davis... he has good starts to the game but does hardly anything after quarter time.

or Baz, who had an ordinary start and middle ....

Very ordinary indeed! But I think grundy should go for Davis.

LRT, Barry, Bolton, Kennelly, Mathews, Schneider/Richards would constitute our backline. Hence no problems with replacing both Bevan and Dempster with Davis and Mathews.

Grundy should play the rest of the year IMHO. He is a good target who gets to contests, has a good leg on him and is starting to read the play well.

Not sure why grundy is always compared with Davis, besides the fact they are both forwards, one plays as a small leading forward, the other as a tall marking forward.
