    Words of wisdom on BigFooty

At this stage I would not blame him [Nick Davis] for walking out.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that people weren't allowed to have opinions on selection.

Whatever Nick did, it's time for the coaches to extend the olive branch. I don't see what is gained out of humiliating and breaking him.

I don't think that Davis' admittedly long list of issues will matter too much this year. Gardiner and Akermanis will both be on the market and Nick is a saint in comparison to the problems those two have had.
It's in the Nick Davis thread over there. I thought it was worth bringing here.

No matter what you have to say ROK or anyone else, it still doesn't take away the fact that Nick's weight, skin fold tests and general fitness all blew out and was not up to AFL standard.

As I have said multiple times, it is no so much about the selection as the way it was handled. That said, it is bleedingly obvious that a number of players have played at a lot less than 100% this season, most of whose form has been worse than Davis'.

Any reasons why Davis was dropped have surely gone weeks ago given his form in the reserves.

We seem to continue to carry other unfit or injured players though.

Crouch and Williams to name just two.

Roos stated before the break that we had 11 players who could not train properly and who weren't full fit.

He stated yesterday that we'd met a side who were healthier than us. Given our lack of players out injured, what else does that mean?

Gee more people STILL pushing the Nick Davis wheelbarrow! How original for RWO.

I know a lot of people who can't be bothered posting on the topic of Davis any more for fear of being attacked by the militant RWO Davis groupie clique. A couple of people in Melbourne even said they have lost a far bit of respect for RWO as a result of the recent hysteria created by a loud and persistantly vigilant portion of Swans supporters here. To be honest I can't blame them.

I CAN see Davis being de-listed at the end of the year. The impression is that he has been given enough rope and has finally hung himself with the coaching staff and player group. It would be a shame, as to be honest I don't see him wanting to move back to Melbourne or interstate again. Don't know whether clubs would be interested in nabbing him given his attitude. Maybe Carlton or Essendon might be interested?

But keep on ranting you Davis-lovers. It makes for amusing, if not embarrassing reading.

What a massive loss for RWO that is. A few of JF's @@@@head mates wont post here.

Sorry perhaps I should slag off at those disabled members of the cheer-squad - y'know, those slow ones you told us about, or even the blind ones you were so ashamed of a couple of months back. Would that embarrass you less?

This sums up the siituation perfectly.

We had the facade of Roos during the week saying that Davis wasn't in the 'best' 22, yet clearly he should have been in the best 22 based on who actually fit enough to play at the standard required.

I'm not a "Davis lover" but a lover of fair play. The reasons Roos gave for Davis being dropped were valid at the time. However for some weeks now Davis has addressed all the issues put forward by Roos at the time of the sacking. His form and fitness has returned. His attitude (by evidence I've seen with his body language and general demeanour) has improved. He also has the backing of some high profile team mates in recent weeks which is evidence he again has the trust of the players.

So he has addressed everything Roos threw at him and he still did not get selected last week. Now Roos has intimated that some of the players are not healthy. It boggles the mind then why they were not rested and fit players selected

We don't "continue to carry" either Crouch or Williams.

So who are the "unfit or injured" players that Davis should have replaced in the team weeks ago?

"Continue to carry" meaning we have a history of carrying injured players. Crouch and Williams are two high profile examples, but there have plenty of others over the past couple of years.

Roos stated that we were carrying injured players in the first half of the year.

Roos stated that we aren't completely healthy at the moment and there are a number of players carrying niggling injuries.

The point is that it is hypocritical for Roos to drop Davis for lack of fitness and then say he can't force his way back into the side, when other players continue to play when not fully match fit.
