About Phillips I agree, definitely not as good, although getting a bit of experience into young fellas is also a management team's concern. Grundy has done well in my estimation. Davis is better, but in my opinion, not streets ahead. That's my own honest opinion.

The point I am trying to make is that some people seem to go overboard on this issue and have all kinds of conspiracy theories and anti-Roos theories that he just hates Davis etc and I think that blurs the fact that there are a lot of factors taken into account when putting out a side to play every week.

For example, playing young inexperienced lads like Phillips. Teams that don't do this end up with stale old teams that often, eventually fall to pieces and have to be completely rebuilt.

Davis to my mind was left out in the beginning because of lack of fitness and form, he compounded this with stupid comments to the media. The Swans club over reacted to this, no doubt in my mind, but then other factors came into play, such as discipline, time-scale on getting fit again, form of players who replaced him, the winning-streak at the time and getting senior footy minutes into the legs of some young fellas whilst playing bottom of ladder teams. This all kept Davis out of the side. I think it is time for him to come back and hope he kicks a bag full, but this does not condone lots of the non-sensical vitriol that has been on this site about the issue. People seem to get very hot under the collar and knee-jerky and forget to take a lot of factors into account (and unfortunately some intellectual lightweights then descend into name-calling etc).

The Swans have had a decent run without Davis, they may have won with him at the weekend, the may well have got thumped still, ('cause ball delivery was beyond poor in general), but now I reckon he'll be back and for the good of the Sydny Swans Club, I hope he kicks a ton of goals and for the cause of good sense and decency, I hope people on here remain sensible whether he plays his greatest or worst game in the red and white when he comes back.

You can speak for me anytime. Explaining myself to people I don't know nor care for disinterests me. My time is too precious to waste on that.

I didn't say I agree with the power the leadership seems to have at the club. My point was, that it was used as one of the excuses to drop Davis and since some players have verbally backed Davis, Roos can't use this to keep him out.

I agree they are professional footballers and any personality clashes should be managed. (Unless you sleep with amates wife, then its gloves off )

At this time of the year everyone is injured. Everyone. It's just a matter of how much. Whether they need one needle or three. It's why winning the flag now has become almost a matter of last team standing wins.

Each week would be a guessing game for the coaching staff to weigh up whether one player is injured enough to be less effective than another injured player. This game is human dodgem cars now and those who can keep their bodies together best will win. Look at Adelaide, they're exhausted. Despite the win, so are the Bulldogs.

I think it has been a good move to give Davis a break and time to get fit again. A shame we don't that luxury with a few other players. At least there will be one fresh body on the paddock next week.

Game Over: giant loses

Gibbs said that both Ablett and Roberts-Thomson had endured their injury for the last couple weeks and given both got a bit worse the decision was made not to risk further aggravation and allow the injuries time to get better and they will likely play this weekend.

Skiddie is the future of the club. Very smart player, can read the ball well and has played some great games for a youngster. Davis is never going to be a leader, and I doubt will ever play at a consistent(ly good) level....

From my point of view, Davis may come back into the team, but I dont see him as a long term proposition. It is a big thing to lose the confidence of the coaching staff and senior players.

I also read that as the "bloods" tradiion started and the whole team was punished for misdemeanours, Davis was responsible for the overwhelming majority of indiscretions. I wouldnt be surprised if Roos hated him. He is always holier than thou - and I can see him being extremely disrespectful behing closed doors...maybe thats me putting my spin on it....?

That's because your question required that the Swans reveal the names of the injured players before it could be answered. Anyone believing that "if you can't name a player carrying an injury, then there aren't any" has had their faulty reasoning corrected.

Unless of course my question was in response to the statement "other players are obviously not match fit and not performing to their potential" - in which case if it's obvious to the person concerned they should be able to identify them, or at least let me know what their jersey number is so I can check the Footy Record.

I've never at any stage suggested that there aren't any players playing injured - at this stage of the season it would be very surprising if that wasn't the case at the Swans as it is at all AFL clubs. I just asked your good buddy Bloods to tell me his list of "obviously" injured players - a task that proved beyond him till today.

Without attempting to speak for my alleged buddy, to say "other players are obviously not match fit and not performing to their potential" is not the same as to say "it's obvious which players are not match fit and not performing to their potential". It is obvious that it is/was the case that unfit players were playing and the media release confirmed it as true. Case closed.

Thank you, as I explained a week ago.

"Roos stated that we aren't completely healthy at the moment and there are a number of players carrying niggling injuries", so obviously there are players who are injured.

Last Saturday's win over the Lions was signifigantly poorer in effort than the win last year. Last year's win had the Swans showing muscle whereas this win was similar to the demons win where the team with more senior players won, eventually.

I couldn't help but get the impression that either there are many injuries (except for Goodes) or the team is still not playing with total commitment.

What a peculiar thing to take exception to....

Ummm.....no?? my point is that I cant see Davis maturing into a player that will lead (or mentor if that is easier for you to digest) the younger players through to improve the team.
