You can guarantee spida is on his way NOW!........

No they don't - they're going to pay half that!!

And if Sydney do get Spida, even presuming that we also dump Doyle, where does that leave Shaw and in particular Ericksen? I know that Ruckmen Take Time, but to draft a guy in 2003 and keep him on the list not expecting him to play until 2009, in which year he turns 24? That's just ridiculous. I don't like the smell of the whole thing.
Not to mention the near-200cm 14 year old we have lined up!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
AS THE chances of the Swans recruiting Hawthorn ruckman Peter "Spida" Everitt increase, one question lingers - how well would a 32-year-old with outstanding talent but a chequered history fit into the club's self-titled "no @@@@heads" recruiting policy?
I think this last paragraph is what it all comes down to in the end.
However, Everitt seems a good fit for the Swans who have not yet found a replacement for retired ruckman Jason Ball. Paul Chambers seemed out of his depth this year after arriving from Geelong, and the injury-prone Stephen Doyle is being given a chance to fill the role. But Everitt is in a different class, an elite tap ruckman who can also kick goals. A potential match-winner.

Yet, at 32, he is also coming off a season truncated by a serious ankle injury and, potentially, would be leaving a second club in bad blood, having been removed from the Hawthorn leadership group this season. As well as the claims he lacked commitment, privately there was concern that the free-spirited Everitt was not setting the example required by a club that has a large group of young, impressionable players.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I agree there is a lot in there as well, but it was fairly obvious to all that he didn't want to be at Hawthorn this season. When someone is that adamant to leave you are better off letting them go. I think he may be putting himself in the position where the Hawks won't want him there next season.
Just a theory, but you never know how these guys think.
I wonder if Everitt was even worth 350k this year at Hawthorn! Because of the Swans' rumours I sort of kept my eye on his performances..and he didn't impress me too much. My feeling is that he's past his best..and plus the ankle surgery, the risk may be too great!
Plus, he is a mug, and the players who take the high ground all the time, may not be amenable to that.
Arguments that he teaches the young guys are nonsense..Ball can do that..retired ruckmen are a dime a dozen, not 350k a year for advice anyway!
We have 2 ruckmen at the minute with a couple of up and comers in the wings..I'd rather wait and let Spida go elsewhere.
Oh and if we did take him, either cash or a 3rd pick only..not a thing more!

Whilst I was happy for it last year, I'm not happy for a two-year deal commencing next year. Will he really be the difference? I just don't see it.
I liked Richard Hinds' article in the SMH today about him. I just can't see the point in paying a $700000 package for a 32 year old with an arguably poor attitude.
He was fined by his club for being commentator at the Hawthorn-Carlton game. His coach got the shot of his life when there was Spida, one of his players, interviewing him.

To me it sounds like Hawthorn are trying to get rid of him.
I watched that game and his commentary was fair, insighful and full of praise for the Hawks' youngsters. Talk about an overraction.
The latest is that he has been accused of rigging a club raffle. This on top of the guarantees sought by the leadership group.
I don't think he'll have any problems fitting in at Sydney where he knows it will be his last shot at winning a flag.
However I don't want us to pay over the odds for him and pre season draft may be the best bet.

Who ever thought that Davis would be involved in a trade with Spida has got rocks in their heads
It was Robert Walls.... enough said.

Ericksen and Shaw are 3 years away and might never make it. Everitt is a former All Australian. The only problem is what we will lose and I don't think we should lose our No 1 pick on him.
