If the Swannies get him and then can get his best out of him for two seasons, he will have been a great acquisition. It is however, a big gamble in my estimation and while I'm not dead-set against it, I don't feel to comfortable either. Poor old Doyley should make way if we get him. Trading Nick Davis for Spida wouldn't be a 'value for money' trade, although I would give a damn if we did trade Davis for a tall backman.

IMO it doesn't really matter how many more ruckmen we get ... I think one of our biggest problems is a lack of ball hungry rovers (other than maybe Kirk and Goodsey).

      What's happened to the rovers?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I think this year is probably our last realistic chance at having a go at the flag for a while. Maybe next year if things go really well. The nucleus of our team - Barry, Hall, Kirk, Goodes are past their peak (Goodes probable exception). West Coast and Adelaide are starting to peak and Richmond and Footscray are on the ascendant.

The use of our first and second round picks last year is looking more and more dodgy. So we have effectively missed the cream of last year's crop. Topping up with 'experienced' players has led to the downfall of other clubs, and quite likely will do the same to us.

As others pointed out, the fallacy that you need an experienced ruckman to 'educate' the younger guys is just that, a fallacy.

Add to that the obvious hippocracy of drafting a known @@@@head when Nick Davis is being pillaried for similar but lesser indiscretions and the whole thing starts to look very shaky indeed.

        SAY NO TO SPIDA

Have we forgotten about Barry Hall, and Plugger Lockett? Both would/should not have been recruited under a "no @@@@heads" policy either.

But we did not have the no @@@@heads policy in place then.

If you are going to implement a rule stick to it and make it consistent for all concerned.

Also, I would not place Everitt in the same league as either Plugger or Barry Hall.

Why not place Everitt in the same league as Hall and Plugger ?

Isn't Everitt an all australian or has been an all australian ?

If you believe that Nick Davis is a @@@@head, don't you have to accept that we need a @@@@head or two to win a Premiership?

                    1. Because he is way past his use by date

                    2. Because he is not the all time leading goal kicker

                    3. Because he cheats a chook raffles

I have been a fan of Doyley but that is hardly a successful return. 3 dropped marks and a few stats last week. Needs to play at least 1 genuinely good game to convince me he will ever make it.

Clearly the recruiting of Darren Jolly was as good as you could ever expect in any draft trade.

I've seen Hall in Melbourne a few times. Spider to Swans, Hall to Hawks.

When you get drafted you will need a new number royboy, or is Paul Bevan part of a trade??
