The problem seems to be the grass underneath the stands when they move them closer to the field for RL. Of course it won't do the grass any good, if there are any concerns they should just leave the stands in AFL configuration on the weekends when both AFL and RL/Union are scheduled.
Though IIRC the ground was in excellent shape for the Brisbane game last year the day after the Bledisloe.
Alternate solution: Get Souths and the Swans to swap home grounds for 2007. It's not like Souths will be affected by the reduced capacity of the SCG or anything.
