    Some random thoughts...

It was nice to see Jolly pick up a few disposals last night, his ability to get to stoppages around the ground is impressive (I'm not sure if it is through fitness or determination).
I was pleased to see (what I believe to be) Doyle's true value as a back-up ruckman on display by plonking him in the goal square (would have had 2 if Ryan hadn't spoilt him!).
Something is up with Hall, he wasn't getting much of it and didn't really seem to come up the ground to try to get a touch.
Disclaimer: I declare an interest so take this for what you will, but... I thought Davis was good in his return to seniors, the great thing for me about him back is having someone floating through the midfield that more often than not takes the long/attacking option and can hit targets with either foot. His delvery to the forwards looked (to me) to be a class above anyone else last night and if not for calamity out of his hands he would have racked up a tidy number of goal assists. 14 disposals from limited game time (appeared to be planned as it was like clock work and I could predict within a couple of minutes when he would be pulled) was a fair return, importantly the numbers were spread across all four quarters so he wasn't going missing for large parts of the game. He looked to be playing a team focused game, it wouldn't have shown up on TV but (as an example) he consistently ran to cover Lions (not just his own, and probably sacrificed some cheap back half stats on his opposite numbers for it) downfield to successfully avoid having play switched to that side of the field, a minor thing to do but he kept at it all night and it certainly falls into the "little things" category.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I agree with you Stellation its the little things that count and coaching staff notices them.It is hard to see on TV those little things but on TV he looked pretty good for having missed 6 weeks of senior footy.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

That was the most boring, piece of @@@@ game I've ever watched. In fact, I stopped watching towards the end and started abusing/encouraging players and umpires who went past the forward pocket.

My entire family was there (in a bunch of different locations) and we were all bored. The people around me (Swans members) were chatting amongst themselves are staring into the distance (probably frozen in place).

If this is the best the team can offer us prior to the finals, to get us ready to cheer them on, then its JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We had enough control over that game to play in a manner which could have been interesting.

Ugly? Yes. Boring? Yes. But its unfortunate that the style wins matches, so I suspect that we will have to put up with it as long as Roos is coach.

Melbourne, here I come. I will be able to go and watch teams who remember how footy is played.

I would rather see boring and win as opposed to exciting and lose.

Sport is about entertainment not just winning.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Under practically any circimstances youd take a win, no matter how it was achieved...and a near 10 goal win usually eqautes to a thrashing, yet last night, somehow, the win by that margin crept up on me. It was, perhaps, one of the most boring games of fotball I've seen (though one against Fremantle a few years ago probably pips it at the post). So boring in the first half that I thought i was at the soccer with the scoring, or at the rugger with the rolling maul...and 36 players in the one half of the ground.
Now, it pains me to have to say it cos I like Freo, but go the Weagles!!!
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

It was a shocking game all things considered.

I'd rather hear about the win and do something more interesting with my time. That was among the 2 most painful hours of my life - I assume that is what child birth must be like.
