SYDNEY, Aug 31 AAP - Irishman Tadhg Kennelly has decided to stick with the Sydney Swans until the end of the 2009 AFL season before returning to his homeland.
The dashing Sydney defender was considering heading home at the end of this season but has signed a three-year deal with the reigning premiers.
The 25-year-old felt he had plenty more to achieve in the AFL.
He will turn 28 in 2009 and could still potentially fulfil a childhood dream of winning an All-Ireland title in Gaelic football.
"The next three years are going to be the most fruitful for him, he can still get better and he is only 25," Sydney coach Paul Roos said."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
