    Crouch's tough year

    September 8, 2006

SYDNEY Midfielder Jared Crouch has revealed how he played during the season with a broken collarbone, a chronic ankle injury, and lower-back and hamstring problems. The 28-year-old has been criticised for choosing not to divulge his injuries, but he did not want opponents to exploit his physical weaknesses. Crouch, who received the ankle injury in last year's grand final, had surgery to insert a pin into the joint on Wednesday night. After recuperation the pin will be removed, and it is expected he will be ready for the 2007 pre-season. He explained yesterday that he had thought the ankle injury was a sprain, but five weeks before the start of the season the ankle froze up, and it was discovered he had torn a tendon.
    1) he hasn't played since he was outed from the side with a "mysterious injury". So how were opponents going to exploit his injury.

    2) If he was injured before the season, YTF was he selected to play in the team for 12 rounds. Individual glory >> the team. Not part of the Bloods ethos.

Williams and Crouch playing with shocking injuries really pisses me off. It shows the huge danger of a culture of putting your team before your own health; someone is going to have their career cut short if it continues.
