I was right about the 'close for the first 3 quarters but Sydney's greater fitness finally tells' motif, but wrong about the margin (I thought they'd ultimately get away by 7 or 8 goals).
The problem for the 2s is that the excitement around the club is now such that any of the players who played firsts tonight could have their leg sawed off, and still demand that they were right to play. And surely no selection committee could be churlish enough to drop a player who participated in that win.
Hey everyone, just letting you know that the Swans are into the Granny. Beat Belconnen 117-95, good 2nd half Belco got withing 1pt in the last term and it was never much more than that all day. The first half was a discrace, I think Belco were trying to kill some of your blokes, a couple of...
Sounds like Belconnen lined up a few of our guys. I've always suspected that it could end up like this when teams get frustrated at not being able to beat us.
Originally posted by tantrum Sounds bad. Another reason the Swans might questions the current reserves arrangements if hacks can do that can kind of thing.
While Belconnen are obviously a better team than just 'hacks', on balance I think you're right.
Of course there are thugs at any level of footy. No doubt every competition, from AFL down, has its cheap shot merchants. But in terms of the averages, clubs playing in what are essentially semi-pro leagues (VFL/SANFL/WAFL) will demand and receive a higher level of professionalism from their players, than you get in purely amateur leagues.
You're less likely to have those games where players get targetted in a premeditated and callous way, or where teams go out with the intention of 'settling a score' with the opponent regardless of the outcome of the match. I of course make these comments in a general way, without having witnessed today's game.
