Where to stay in Sydney for PF

    Oh gosh, oh darn !!!!

I have to go up to Sydney next week for work...on Thursday and Friday...so I guess I will probably have to stay up on the Friday night for the game

Where would people suggest I stay on the Friday night? Somewhere reasonably cheap but doesnt have to be backpackers or the like

Or would it be better to stay in town, close to the club at Kings Cross? Is that where people will go after the game?

The Melbourne club is organising accommodation at Vibe Rushcutters Bay...is that OK?

    Any suggestions???

Mods...can I suggest that maybe a useful thing to have saved somewhere handy is a list of recommended hotels in each city...or does this already exist somewhere?

I am coming up from Melbourne on Friday and have booked discounted accomodation via wotif.com.au staying at apartments on Darling Harbour. I suggest the best way to find accomodation is via either wotif.com.au or lastminute.com.au or quickbeds.com.au .

I would stay in town if I were you, as I think most people head back to Sydney CBD via trains and buses after the game to hopefully celebrte. I think that there is free transport to and from Telstra Stadium.
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

If it's anything like last year there will be a few thousand poor souls lined up outside the SCG for grand final tickets

Vibe is a decent standard hotel and a short walk from Kings Cross if you want to go to AFL club after game. Trouble is with 8pm start and train travel you wont get back till quite late so not sure what story is at AFL club.

Interestingly enough the Melbourne club has advised that there will not be a queue process for tickets this year for Melbourne members, so there is no penalty in terms of going to Sydney for the PF.

I havent got my letter from the club yet (supposedly sent yesterday) so I am unsure what the process will be - probably some sort of ballot????

Lets just hope there is a need for some sort of process!!!

Our letter arrived today. You have to ring up next Tuesday or Wednesday to register your interest in a GF ticket if the Swans make it. All the details are in the letter. You don't seem to be able to choose which type of seat you get - the seats are just allocated in the order that you get through, with Premiership and Bloods members allocated first.

Cant say I am happy with that process as I will be at work...I dont think work will be happy spending all my time trying to phone up to book tickets

May have to take next Tuesday off...cough cough...then recover in time to go to the game on Friday night

The Novotel at Olympic Park can be quite cheap if you book on a discount site. (wotif.com etc)

Nup!! Even before our game was scheduled prices were high for both Novotel and Ibis but the prices are now even higher. Cheapest Ibis is $199, Novotel $289.

$189 is not bad if you want convenience?

There is a Best Western at Lidcombe if you want something close to the ground (Lidcombe is about 4 minutes away from Homebush from train)

Otherwise there is Parramatta if you want something not too far away.

For anyone doing it on the cheap, there is a couch at my place. You may get a rather hyperactive Jack Russell by the name of Kitu jump on you. But it is a place to stay dry and safe & the very least.

Can any Sydney-based RWOers offer people a bed or couch to sleep on for Friday week? Because remember, us Sydneysiders may well be needing your hospitality the week after.

Plus, people helping out fellow supporters not only helps bring the South & Sydney factions closer together & understanding each other more, but it helps make RWO a more important tool to use for Swans supporters not wanting to be alone at finals time.

I hate and detest anyone who has a couch. They are all arrogant and sooks.

A bloke behind the bar at my local pub told me that everyone who has ever started a fight there has owned a couch.
