The Roxy is a fine night out for the kids.
For christ's sake. They're only here for a night, daddy is going to get smashed at the races and sleep it off. I'm sure he'd be able to rest his head a lot easier if he knew his daughter and her friends are close by. Another option is the Albion Hotel (on the corner of George & Harris Sts), or there's an irish pub (whose name escapes me right now ... used to be called the general bourke) which is also a good drink. I've actually been to all these places and can recommend them as safe for GIRLS.

I notice that you're not being very helpful. I wonder what the barman in your local pub would have to say about that.

They're not here to be tourists (well, if you bothered to read any of the posts, they will do the tourist thing on Sunday). They're here to watch the races, watch a game of footy, and maybe find somewhere safe for the kiddies to go out and drink after the game.
Again, I say cross the Anzac bridge and see how the real world lives.
Whilst I'm sure the girls would just love to travel into the city after the game, the city isn't really an option (no trains to come back late, excy cabbies, etc.).
Considering they're only going to be here for one night, the girls (I assume) are in their 20's, and I'm pretty sure that Nolie would prefer that his daughter be close by, where would YOU suggest they go out.

I have been to pubs in Redfern many times, but would i advise people who visit from interstate to send their teenage/20's kids for a night out there ?
