Yes, Sanecow, you are (probably) totally correct. I bow to your wisdom. I bow to your ability to grab something and turn it into a totally different debate. I admire that in you. Where the hell did the Swans moving away from Sydney come from in either WestCoast1 or my posts ? Does it make it a fact just because you thought of it first ??
I am almost sure that your last statement also applies to Perth people and the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers, I am almost sure that the same applies to Adelaide people and the Adelaide and Port Adelaide Football clubs, not to mention Brisbane. What about the South Melbourne supporters back in the early 80's and the Fitzroy supporters in the 90's ? You think they, en-masse, accepted their team had moved and immediately became members of the interstate club ??

Fact or dribble, some do some don't - in the end it makes no difference - each club will have to carve it's own ground.

Very soon, people like me that supported South Melbourne, will be in the minority, if we aren't already. That still, at this moment, leaves a Sydney team with a 10,000 strong Victorian Membership. If that is all Victorians, then we have some room in this state. Between you and me, Saints and Bomber supporters would not be going for the Swans - truth be known, they probably don't give a damn.

How about giving the tired and old "You are really South Melbourne playing out of Sydney" a rest - the umbillical cord was cut over 25 years ago - But just because they were moved doesn't mean they have to start again, afresh - there is no sense in losing your history and heritage.

You, as in Eagles, from memory, were not an existing team - You were a new team - You have nowhere near the history and heritage - Though you can see it, you cannot understand it.

If you have nothing better to do than make the above statement - I, as a Victorian member of the Sydney Swans, solemnly declare that I barrack for a NSW AFL team based in Sydney - and I am very happy doing so and will be till the day I draw my last breath.

That makes at least one Victorian that makes a mockery of your failing logic.

Victoria can't handle that many teams for too much longer ... and there'll end up being more losers than winners. (Now, we'd ALL like to see that!!)

The SMFC had no choice ... either move to Sydney or leave the VFL. Thank God they chose the former.

I love the fact that we really are (certainly, IMO, cemented by last years GF win) ... two cities, one team, one dream. Going down to South Melbourne on the Sunday morning after the GF last year, and talking to old "SMFC" fans with tears in their eyes was far more moving to me than the actual "win". It was priceless.
I have just moved up to Sydney from Melbourne and I have been a bloods supporter my whole life. What you have just said Annie, is spot on. It almost brought tears to my eyes to realise that we are "two cities, with one team" and we are almost about to live the dream again! You are a model supporter for NSW and Victorian fans alike...I know I have been guilty in the past of maybe bagging NSW people out for not appreciating "my" team but I am over all that crap now. It is our team. Plain and simple. GO BLOODBOYS!!!! See everybody at the Grand Final! I am in section N27...the second level of the AFL Members reserve! WOO HOO!

PS. If the guy I hugged after last years GF is on this forum, please get in contact. I am hoping to need a hugging buddy yet again! Same time, same place will be just fine!
            Go you mighty BLOODBOYS!

Without the fans .... there'd be no footy.

I'm just happy to see that good, old-fashioned rivalry is alive and kicking in our great game.

I think there's only one thing the WHOLE competition agrees on ... back your team, and whoever's playing collingwood!!

Everything else is just your team versus mine crap. I love it !!!

Roscoe, Sydney hasn't forgotton. Do you see FFC on the back of the Brisvegas jumper? Our tradition IS your tradition. Sydney Swans do not / have not forgotton their heritage.

But we're no less passionate because we happen to live in Sydney and we only have one team to follow (and if I have anything to do with it, it'll stay that way).

An example of multi-culturalism in footy ... our group for the grand final consists of 1 x 20 yr Sydney Supporter, 1 x Richmond Supporter, 1 x Hawthorn Supporter, 1 x Bushrat Supporter, and 4 x Irish Imports.

We are all premiership club members, surrounded by chardies, who just LURV our footy.

Okay, time for my two cents:

1 - South Melbourne as a club changed its name and location. It is still the same club. The statisticians agree. Like any business that changes their name, that doesn't mean they are not the same company. The Club was formed in 1874 at Lakeside Oval and was moved in 1982 to Sydney. No debate there.
2 - South Melbourne/Sydney has been in more Finals, Grand Finals and has won more premierships (4 to 2) then West Coast. If you disagree then you think the entire AFL is wrong, and that would make you more arrogant then a Collingwood supporter.

And excuse me for being frank, but should Mods be allowing west coast trolls on here when they just want to throw up abuse? Or is this an open forum type one? Honestly i don't know.... just a rookie
