    No talk about Lakeside Oval...Why?

I know this was a sore point last year but shouldn't the club look to book Lakeside Oval for Sunday's get together? Surely the soccer club that currently leases the premises would avoid the bad press and not enforce the 20k booking fee. As a Melbourne based member I would love to share the occassion in the ground and not have to watch Skilts risk his neck in a cherry picker again!!!

They didn't seem to care about the bad press last year, so why should this year be any different?

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

The Lake Oval really doesn't exist any more. The soccer stadium bears no resemblance to the Lake Oval that many of us here loved/loathed. Whilst he old members stand still exists (Just), it is the only link to the old SMFC home ground. If it was still a footy/cricket ground I think it would be different in wanting some sort of celebration there, but given that it isn't, a family day any where around that side of the lake is appropriate.

Its a shadow of its former self but its still our spiritual home. Thats why we continue to campaign to save the grandstand and the club applied to utilise it last year.

That "Soccer" club... (Yes.. it's still soccer here in Australia and not football) has gone out of it's way to make life hard for Swans supporters over the years.

I don't think Sydney/SMFC should even consider doing anything that would assist these guys or help them to make a buck.

The only time they remotely showed any interest in being associated with us was in 2003 when they were supposedley televising games. Went down there only to be treated like pariahs and left watching with no sound.

              Bugger 'em I say...
