this is great news for the swans. if we can pick up talent in the third round under the father-son ruling, this will greatly increase our chance of snaring the players the club needs (Everitt, Tarrant).

I would think we would require the second round draft pick and another fringe player (vogels or grunts) to snare Tarrant and Everitt, i'm not too sure what we would give up to get him.

Not necessarily. Carlton have three players eligible to be taken under the FS this year so they'll have some decisions to make about which they prefer and whether a second choice is worth a second round pick.

I see Williams was named as one of the better Calder players in the TAC Cup final.

We do not need Tarrant. Unless we get him for nothing. There is no doubt he has talent, I just think he's been around long enough to show he's a headcase. Maybe a change of scenery is what his career needs. I'd prefer not to take the risk.

I remember two head cases named Tony Lockett and Barry Hall who came to Sydney and look what they did to change their lives and attitudes on the ground. I think Tarrant should be seriously considered especially looking at the age of O'Loughlan. I know he had a great year but may start to slow down. Imagine a fwd line of ROK, Hall, MOL and Tarrant working in tandem.

I highly agree and think that Tarrant should be worth pursuing as he has talent and can play for a few years yet

Also to try and get Everitt as well would be a huge bonus for the Swans

I guess it would be nice from a "recycyling Collingwood players" POV. Perhaps spared the spotlight of Melbourne's media circus he could come good......
He just doesn't look like he cares about not playing well.

Agee 100%. A froward line with the likes of thos 4 + Davis is one that people dream of. Hall, Willo and Lockett switched clubs and never dreams of playing better footy. They were stars and I know Tarrant will be one too should he choose to come to sydney.

Anyone have any news on Tarrant and whereabvouts we are with trades?

The first question about a F/S pickup - Is he any good? IMO Collingwood have had their fingers badly burned by rushing in to grab sons who turned out to be blocks off the old chip. In any case I suspect we already have a better candidate for the same sort of job - young bloke called Moore.
I might be interested in Tarrant, but to try him in defence rather than as a forward - could do very well.

That's all we can do DREAM of it, because its pointless to go after a player that we have no need for and would cost us more than "just" a 2nd Round draft pick.

For starters the long-term replacement for O'Loughlin at Full Forward going forward is Heath Grundy, so why block his path to the senior team by getting a player that is questionable at best. Second of all Collingwood are after a Quick, Young Midfielder and a 1st Round Draft Pick. So unless we are all willing to give up Nick Malceski and our 1st Rounder don't EVEN BOTHER entertaining the thought of going after Tarrant.

He just isn't worth it at the price Collingwood will put on his head.

The problem is Collingwood are neither here nor there with moving Tarrant on. This isn't an Everitt or Akermanis case where they are going, it's just a matter of getting the best deal. Unless Collingwood get their price or better he won't be moving on.

As Robbie say's, we most certainly do not want to pay that price.

BTW. Haven't we got the best forward line in the competition anyway? We need backmen and some speed in the midfield as our #1 priority. Let's not get hung up on Magic finishing in a year or 2. If Reg doesn't come up, options for forwards will always be found. Magic did start as a HBF after all.
