    Reporting in

Jimmy Olsen ace reporter here - and just back from the Club Champion dinner. A lot of love in the air there.

Mike posted a link to the awards given so there are half my notes wasted. And I thought I had the scoop on the Roos/Ireland signings.

I didn't get to speak to Leo or Baz.

But here's what I learned. Monty's response to his interest in Melbourne - "Bull@@@@. I only want to play here." And Fossie - "I just signed for three years - it's just the rumours at this time of the year."

Nick Davis (Very late in the evening) - I'm here for the long haul. This is my club"

Jolly (yawning) No I'm not getting much sleep."

Roos' speech: "the bloods ethos was set up by Stewie Maxfield and has been carried on by Baz, Brett and Leo". Colless (personal): "Stewie is and was the leader of this club as it is today."

LRT - we lost so there's been very little looking back. We're just preparing for 2007. I enjoyed playing in the ruck - you just do what you are asked to do.

Goodes - I think we've actually gained some strength in defeat.

Schneids: "I wore the Monty badge because everyone calls me Amon"

Ben Mathews - "we've just gotta look forward mate. No point thinking what might have been."

Craig Bolton "move closer and smile for the camera" (To two adoring girls)

Grundy - rumour says he hasn't signed.

Crouch - on crutched "but pre season training is November. I'll be right by then."

    Moore - has re-signed

Magic - "yep, I do feel fitter than I have for years. The knees are still a problem but managed right . . ."

Ted (in taxi queue) "I'm staying at the Swans. I'm not planning on going anywhere."

    Chambers - unseen

Willo - retired with great dignity (but will be in so much trouble at home about the need for his wife to get a job now ' "she's calling while I'm speaking: she should be updating the resume!"

    Rhino - I didn't talk to.
    Jude - I just congratulated.

Sean Dempster - tell me a joke and I'll smile (but he lied). Lots' of almost smile pics though.

Doyle - "If I didn't play the last six weeks I think I'd be playing with another team. But it looks like I'll be back as one of the three ruckmen we want."

Peter Jonas - "my wife wants to move to Adelaide so, if things fall into place, we'll leave."

Roos: "Well we have one new coach to replace any who leave."

Horse: "Thanks for wishing me luck as you say you hope I don't get the job!"

Finally, a player who won't be named by me said that the Eagles players are worse than we thought - "not just Cuss and Hunter - one news group have now refused to interview any of them because of their conduct since they won."

    That's it, I think.

By the way - Hayley, Brett's wife is due at the end of this week ("We got the timing right") and if not, she may be induced.

Oh, and I forgot to wish Monty a happy birthday.

    It was a good night.

Thanks for the report Go Swannies. Very good news re Davis (his passion for our club was never more obvious than at the end of the GF), Monty, Fossie, Ted (showing so much promise now) and Moore.

It'd be a shame to see Grundy leave as you would hope he might be the player to replace MOL when he retires but at the same time, if Grundy can get a regular senior spot in another team, you cant really blame him. He at least gives us a trading option.

Just speculation at the moment, but hearing the rumour that Grundy is yet to sign within days of an article highlighting the Swans may now be keener on Tarrant than Spida certainly is interesting.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Thanks Go Swannies that was all good news to wake up to this morning. Grundy is a bit of a worry though. Would love to keep him. Can't we just keep everyone?!

If we were to get Taz, Grundy would be the only one that would compliment Collingwood as it would be a forward for forward trade.

One bit I forgot was, very late in the night, I did ask Roos the question about whether he ever looked past "Fitzroy" on a resume? I thought it was cheeky but he was looking relaxed.

He replied seriously, saying that a coach needs to work with other coaches that he knows and understands their approach to the game. He also said that any new coaches needed to come into the club with an understanding of how he worked and coached - so those who had been at a club with him were at an advantage.

Grundy + 2nd round pick for Tarrant? I would sign off on that trade pretty quickly.

I was thinking he was hiring all these Roys players just to appease OldRoyboy!

Am sure OR is a happy boy now because of it though!

Ah but we've had a few d***heads come to the club only to be reborn.Maybe it can work for Tazza(fingers crossed if he comes)

Im not so sure about that i think we could use him as a KPP at FB or CHB,hes quick, good mark, big and he is strong. We dont need him in the forward line,we could even try him in the middle he has been at the Pies.
