Kicking 100 goals in a season isn't the only way to be considered a phenomenon. I agree that Hall couldn't play Locketts role - but there is NO WAY Lockett could do what Hall does. IMO he's the current best KP forward in the competition...no easy feat. I'd like you to mention another player as big and dominate as he is, who covers the same amount of territiory each week.

I think I just wasted more than half an hour of my life calculating stats I think I'll give up on this stats business for today...

Anyhow, the first point I want to make is that just as Eade didn't have access to Plugger, Roos doesn't have access to Plugger either. Roos inherited Eade's squad, don't forget.

Secondly, if you add in Eade's part of 2002, where the Swans scored 5.8% of total competition goals, the picture looks a lot worse...and I'm sure for a lot of us that period sticks in our mind, it being the most recent experience of Eade we've had.

(Incidentally, by my calculations, Roos' Swans scored 0.07% "percentage of total goals in the competition" more than Eade's 2000-2001 Swans , or 0.2% if you include 2002 as well. Which is an insignificant difference, if you ask me)

It's a fairly certain fact though that Eade got more and more defensive in his latter years at the Swans - Roos also got more defensive after his 2003 year, but turned it back up again this year (6.4% of total competition goals).

2003 - 6.7%
2004 - 6.0%
2005 - 5.8%
2006 - 6.4%

Tredrea has been injured for the last season and a bit, so he's not as dominant as he used to be. You really musn't have seen much of Jonathon Brown if you think that he doesn't work as hard, if not harder, than Hall. Brown is just a machine, more dominant in the air, and just as physically intimidating. Lloyd works harder than most people give him credit for. He's a double centurian, and does lead up the ground more than most full forwards. Give him an injury free full season and he'll nudge the ton every time. Richo, well he's hot and cold, but when he's hot, he's unstoppable. Point being made is that most club's have a "Barry Hall" if not a better one.

The "insignificant difference", as I already stated, supports my point. Eade's Swans were not significantly more defensive than Roos' Swans, even taking out the Lockett factor.

Of course Eade's team kicked less goals in 2000-01 than they had previously - they were without Lockett. That doesn't mean it was Eade's game plan to play more defensively - he lacked a major goalkicker.

Yet even in that period Eade's Swans kicked more goals than Roos' Swans in 2004-05.

None of the players you mention play for Sydney. Therefore none of them work as hard as Hall. Simple, you idiot.
