After a year in the seniors you'd be stating the obvious when you say that McVeigh & Malceski should further improve. It would be disappointing if they were not to improve, and given more responsibility.

I would say of the next tier, I would expect to see Moore and Grundy further improve and hopefully become more regular players - Also crucial if we are to continue improving as a team.

HB line he can take over from Kennelly when he moves to the midfield.

It's probably a bit soon to say he is a class above those two, but he has the advantage of being slightly more physically developed.

Thornton looks to have a bit of class about him - in a Sundqvist kind of way - but was the youngest Swan drafted last year and will have to get a bit bigger / stronger before being thrown to the wolves at senior level.

I know Phillips debuted last year despite being skinny, but as a crumber he possibly had more chance of getting away with it. But even in that role he was a little out of his depth, just because he didn't have the strength to make a difference around the packs.

                      I am serious....

I think Ablett was mostly unsighted for the entire season and had few performances that could be considered up to his normally high standards.

Whereas Reg was probably unlucky not to play a few more games because he was selected as a fwd and our fwd stocks were generally all fit and performing.

                        Agreed.

Ablett only began to really improve in season 2006 in the LAST FEW WEEKS (I think from about R19 on). Before that he was having a shocker.

I admit that he has no trouble "getting" the ball. Whether by mark, or by hard ball gets ... he has a thirst for it.

I'm most concerned about his effective disposal rate ... it's dismal.

He has to pick up something big this year.

Reg was unlucky. He's got guts galore.

His disposal only looks convincing when he's thumping it long...and only then cause you think '@@@@ that's a big kick'.

Simon Phillips will grow a further 30cms, put on 20kgs and finally look like he belongs in senior football rather than the Under 14's.

I'd like to say LRT purely so as my blood pressure will remain stable instead of rising everytime he gets the ball and he has not a clue of what to do with it. so better decision making skills there.

McVeigh & Eski to step up this year - they have played in a Grand Final now - so they know what is expected of them.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Agree.... In fact.. I'll go one step further...

How he didn't get BOG for the round 19 game against Geelong I'll never know.... He looked like he was the only Swan out there at times... Him and Goodesy were our only two players there that day...

Because he doesn't play for StKilda...?

He would have been... the rest were at the MCG beating Melbourne!

I assume you mean BOG in the TLM as he was never going to be BOG overall. But yes, in rd 20 he and Goodes were virtually the only two who played reasonably well.
