    Best Zero to Hero Story.....

Saw on another thread a reference to Ted Richards and Craig Bolton.... Bothe never really rated for their previous club but have absolutely blitzed them after being given a chance at the Swans....

Who do you think is the best fairytale story to come out of the Swans???

We're not talking about the likes of BBBH or Lockett either... They were known and wanted players. Let's stick to those unknown rejects of other clubs that have come of age and starred for us.....

    For mind... Mine's Jolly....

Couldn't get a game for Melbourne because Jeff White is supposedley the bust ruck man in the league. Despite an abysmal GF in 06 (Let's not start that one again), in two years he's played in two GF's for one win, one narrow loss....

IMHO, a great Zero to Hero story..

    Craig Bolton by a mile.

Whilst Jolly is a good player, he has done nothing heroic as yet.

He's done pretty well for a guy who couldn't get a game at Melbourne as he "wasn't good enough"

Yes I agree, but that isn't heroic? Graham Teasdale, coming from Richmond to win a Brownlow with the Swans three years later, that is more heroic, but still not owrthy of hero status IMO.

He played 48 games for Melbourne. His main problem was lack of minutes as White was so good.

Bolton was rated by the Lions he just couldn't crack the best team to ever play the game.

Jolly is not a hero by any means.

                Richards hasn't blitzed anything yet.

Agreed.... But it's still hardly an endorsement of his ability by Melbourne is it??

Schauble. To win the B and F in your first year is a pretty decent effort.

White was considered a better player. It would be hard to argue that Jolly is an all round better player even now.

Captain Major General Colonel Kirk anyone?

(Although I gather you mean players who came from other clubs)

But he is certainly the best "discard" come good.

Good call... but does it count when WE discard them and then re-draft them?? LOL
