Surprised at the to talls going but expect at least 1 or 2 redrafts.

Hopefully those that don't get redrafted get opportunities elsewhere.

2 premiership medals in the reserves isn't a bad take away.

It makes us a little more flexible - who would want to gamble draft picks on our untried kids?

So if we see some names drop down the list, we have the space to grab them. Otherwise we can reclaim our 'discards' and hopefully add them to the other thread in a few years time.

Delisting 3 ruckmen! We've probably got an eye on a ruckman for pick 15 now.

God helps us if two of Jolly Doyle Spida go down injured next year

Looks like it. Who is likely to be available?

I was hoping we'd go for a KPP (not ruck).

Chambers did walk by his own choice. Delisting the other two is a surprise.

we've still got Goodes who is no slouch, Hall who is pretty handy, LRT who gets in a gives it a good shake and rattle and Ted who doesn't mind getting in there for a little leap around if instructed.

My pick is Shaw to the rookie list.

I didn't know about the "three second year rookie" rule. Probably explains why they promoted Simpkin to the senior list. Seems like a bit of a daft rule, mind.

I, along with others, am slightly surprised that they've released Shaw AND Erickson. Shaw didn't have a particularly good year but he did get to be named emergency at one point.

I can't see the Swans using a high draft pick for a ruckman. It goes against Roos' drafting views he's expressed in the past. Despite the apparent need for talls, I wouldn't be that surprised to see pick 15 go on a midfielder, particularly if someone like Connors is available.

Another possibility is that they have their eye on someone for the pre-season draft.

                              Doubt it.

Three years on the list and rarely a stand-out at ACTAFL level. And he would not have been viewed as a "project" to the same extent as Shaw and Erikson.

I hope for his sake that another club at least puts him on their rookie list so he gets one more chance, but the odds of him becoming a star of the competition are pretty slim.

I imagine the purpose of the rule is to stop clubs just keeping players on the list that they don't need. By releasing them those rookies get a chance to be picked up by another club that will use them.

The draft rules are designed to force clubs to release players they don't really need so that they can (perhaps) get a chance elsewhere.

While I don't know the actual rules I imagine that the delistees (Shaw for example) could be redrafted to the rookie list without breaching the "three second year rookie" rule.
