A name is worth nothing... We should recruit based on their ability, not their ancestry. If we can use the father/son rule to our advantage and get someone we want, so be it, but I don't recall the rule being compulsory!

And while his father was a good user of the ball and always played well, there's no doubt he was a dirty player.... Reminded me a lot of a certain bulldogs player that doesn't deserve mentioning....
I too would be throwing cut lunches every match if I had 3-4 players hanging off me not watching the ball, throwing sly punches when possible, using the squirell grip to wind me and hinder my effectiveness.

G.Williams would be an even bigger star in this day and age - and a lot less angry - due to scum sucking leeches like Steven Baker being clamped down upon and receiving there due penalties (ie. free kicks and suspension).
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

Somebody told me, The Killers, Hot Fuss, 2004.

The main reason Carlton arnt recruiting either Tomi or Jye is becuase they already have a few players in their mould - Luke Blackwell (Waynes Son), Marc Murphy and Bentick.

Tomi Johnson can play but is only a very small bloke and Williams is slow. Would you take a risk if you are already badly need height and pace on two kids who dont address you immediate concerns. Carlton may yet draft one or both but given how early their third round pick is it will most likely be with their 4th or fifth and maybe a rookie for the other.

Williams is the only bad recruiting decision by the Blues where those names are concerned. Big Nick kept knocking back Wayne Johnson telling him he wouldnt make it - yet he went onto become regarded as Carltons greatest ever finals player.

I also think that Jye has the final word on you guys using a father son selection anyway, and from memory he already told you he wasnt interested. I guess it remains to be seen whether he'll change his mind or take a punt on Carlton or another Victorian club taking him.

Carlton will want to be carefull with Johnson though given Wayne is a runner for Richmond and his youngest son is regarded as a real talent.

Well it's not like Carlton will be requiring a "great finals player" in the next few seasons...

Maybe.. But I'd still like our un beaten run against Carlton to break the 10 year barrier.... I think we're now about 6 or 7 years in?? Be a nice little memory for me when I'm old and demented..

If his football brain is as switched on as his old man's he would be a super pick-up.

However, is there any guarantee that history won't repeat itself?

i.e. We take a Williams rejected by Carlton, develop him into a superstar, only to have him *bugga* off back to Carlton when they finally decide he is good enough and throw a *truck*load of money at him?

Think I'm not still *dirty* about the way Diesel walked out on us in 1992?

                      *bloody swear filter!*

                          - Josh Willoughby to Campbelltown?

                          He might get a game.

Exactly.. Why should we be doing the Williams' any favours...

If the genes are anything to go by.. he very well may be a ball magnet... but probably not a loyal one...

interesting to note after much angst on this board that young jake wasn't deemed talented enough to even be rookied

wonder if he'll line up for the bullants in 2007?
