I saw the match for the first time ever up to Malceski's goal.
Gotta admire the comeback from our boys. Goodes was possessed in that 2nd half. Kirk made a brilliant goal saving mark with one hand while fending off Kerr.

That is without doubt my most enduring memory. It gave me hope and made me think,"We might be able to get there"

I have only watched a replay briefly once and it was to see that mark.

It was a great mark, One of those ones that just stuck.

However, an eagle wasn't to be out done and pulled in a similarly great mark, not long after, IIRC.

Not sure if it was Hansen or maybe Embley. (or maybe one of the other 22)

Watched the replay last night as well - my first time since live.

I'm not crazy about the result but what a cracking game of footy. Even as the AFL tries desperately to turn the game into netball these two teams keep turning on some of the most compelling, intense and tough games it's ever been my pleasure to witness.

As much as we slag off Chick, his smother/handball/shepherd combo in the dying minutes is one of the great GF highlights of all time. Sigh...

Now a few more people have seen it I guess I'll respond...watching it live I felt we were on the back foot all day, and this was confirmed when I watched the replay. We didn't go hard enough from the first bounce, for whatever reason. Maybe they were too relaxed in the build-up, and if so, perhaps Roosy should have seen it coming , though it's easier to look back now in hindsight and say "The Eagles were always going to want it more" - we had a tremendous opportunity to be the first Swans team to go back to back and we didn't take it.

Can't really fault the team much in the second half apart from poor conversion in the third, the final quarter was just magnificent footy from both teams. Remember Kirk's mark clearly too. The passage of play up to Eski's goal was also memorable, though the freaky thing was the string of ball-ups in the last couple of minutes on the wing in almost the exact same position as in 2005, except this time, it was us with the last desperate forward thrust. I hate to say it, but maybe there was an element of fate about the Eagles' win this time. Not karma, but just that it was their turn. Hope I haven't depressed you all.

I think Davis could have won us the game. He was standing on the bench waiting to get onto the ground for quite a while late in the fourth quarter. I thought it was poor player management.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
