Anyone up for something like that?

I'm sure that if we had enough folks we could get the Alexandria to play the 2005 GF
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I was watching the 4th series too, and the stands reminded me soo much of the forgetable 06 GF. I had visions seeings red and white people just sitting in the stands. I miss 'the footy' too. The MCG was haunting me for a couple of days. The ground is soo green. Sorry i had to point that obvious observation cos it reminded me so much of the 06 GF, the grass was so green.

              okay...i don't know what i'm saying...

I view Australia-Uruguay on the same pedestal as the 2005 flag.
I actually enjoyed that day more. So intense both before & after the match.

The overall reaction on the night we won the flag was of being completely stunned & in a bit of a daze rather than elation.

As good as it was to win the flag & dance around Clarendon Street, it didn't compare that to the feeling i had at 3am when I'm marching down George Street with 50000 of my closest friends in celebration at making the world cup.

Still, now that i have experienced both moments, I can kind of say that i have experienced two of the most important moments in my life.

I was standing in Gen Admin at the Telstra Dome during the Robbie Williams concert wondering if I could kick a sherrin between the drummer and the bass guitarist.

Not sure if this was footy withdrawal symptoms or a sign of how dull the concert was....

Fortunately the footy isn't that far away. Under achievers we are not! Complacency won't infect our team. Kirk will make sure of that! Yesterday's hero's will be tomorrow's champions. Otherwise, they can all go and find another club. Ultimate success will be ours. Micky will be a star next year. O'Loughlin that is! Desperate we'll be to make amends. September glory will be ours!

How did "I miss the footy" become a world cup qualifying thread? Please keep it on topic.

BTW I agree with you Swantastic, 05 Premiership is the greatest sporting moment for a die hard Swans fan. The births of each of my 3 daughters surpassed that though.

Mrs Claret was due around the time of the Hawks game at the 'G this year. Naturally, the hospital we chose for the birth was selected for its proximity to the ground in case we needed to wander across the road to watch the Swannies notch up another 4 points.

Alas, Claret Jnr didn't join us until after the game so it didn't matter in the end.

I'll have to remember to check the fixture 9 months in advance when it comes time to plan for number 2. (Reminds me of a certain player . . . . .)
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .
