You should see one or two Carolyn, as in years past. You will definitely see some of last years' draft picks.

Plus, you'll see most of the Senior list there. They won't all play but you will see them.

Good opportunity to get up close and personal, if that's your thing.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

I travelled up to a practice match against St Kilda in Newcastle last year which at least had most of the seniors playing.

Previous to that I saw us get flogged by Carlton by 150 points at Telstra Stadium in 2004 which was embarassing and as pointless as you'll get.

I enjoy watching the youngsters have a run but to be honest you're better off waiting until the season proper starts and catching some reserves games.

I think everyone here is using the terms "entertainment" and "footy" very loosely....

The "pre-season" (NAB Cup) is bad enough, but these "practice" games are abysmal....

            why?

            1. We ALWAYS lose.
            2. We never play our full strength team - or anything close to it.
            3. The play is crap - No skills
            4. The players couldn't even give a flying rats.
            5. They're always held in obscure locations -0 excepting nth syd oval.

Add to that you still have to pay to go - and there is always the fear that someone will be injured and for what?

nah - bring on 31 March!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

They should scrap it and extend the season proper.

Good point GS14. Make the season long enough to play each team twice.
I think it's only an extra week or so???
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

                    Agree....

Dump the pre-season and extend the regular H&A season to 30 rounds... with two "split rounds"....

15 games home, 15 games away. Playing each team at home and away...

Then again, Collingwood would still end up with 27 Melbourne games, 25 of them at the MCG.

By my calcs it would make the season 30 rounds long??!! That would still be 4 weeks longer than the NAB Cup + Season propert combined?

Perhaps if the lists were deeper, bigger, such as those in sports like the Premier League in England, it could be possible, but 30 rounds plus finals is a bit ridiculous to expect.

I think Collingwood should relocate to Darwin - let them travel for a change

To be fair Wardy, (and i know we dont normaly do that) the main resaon the Pies play so many games at the MCG is that many other clubs put that in as a specific request. They all know what a big money earner the pies are and want a peice of the cake.

That is not really the pies fault, despite the advantage it affords them.
