    Have to disagree GS14.

The Daily Telegraph writing articles about Iron Chef out rating AFL matches is bad enough. but putting non-Swans AFL matches up against the NRL on Friday night would be commercial suicide for 7 and hugely damaging to the AFL's brand.

Fussing about promoting AFL in Sydney while the only team in town is the pretty boy Eastern suburb Swans is pretty much a waste of time. Introduce a team out West for the non-brown-leather-jacket masses.

So....after going on and on about how good it is that there is so much footy available in Sydney this season (although half is only available to 25% of Sydneysiders) and that this will be good for the AFL in Sydney, you are now saying that it won't rate? Come on, you can't have it both ways.

I don't get this "only 25% of Sydneysiders" line you keep running. AFAIK Foxtel is available to virtually everyone in Sydney. If people choose not to subscribe, that doesn't stop it from being available.

It's pretty simple, if only 25% subscribe to pay tv the footy is only available to those 25%. For the other 75% the majority do not subscribe because they cannot afford to do so.

If people can't or won't subscribe, it's not an available option for them.

Foxtel are still offering free installation. Better hurry Melbournites while its still available. And it neednt cost as much each month/year as some people on here are claiming. Once the footy season is over you can drop the sports package and only pay fpor the basic package during the non footy season.

Seiously, you Melbourne people have been spoilt for choice when it comes to AFL. In Sydney we were getting very little AFL on FTA other than two, maybe three live games each weekend. You're still doing better than that and if you want to watch the Swans on TV on Sunday, you can go to your local pub to watch it.

Just because you don't purchase something, that doesn't mean it's not available. This is just nonsense. By this line of reasoning, alcohol isn't available to you.

If you don't have something it is not an available option for you is it?

If you don't have Foxtel/Austar then watching the footy on pay tv at home anywhere is not an available option to you.

And no alcohol is not an option for me.
