    Good on you Mr. Jack
The press beat up and the AFL handling of this issue is a disgrace.
The next thing they will do is having players bank accounts scrutinised for anything gambling, sex industry, health products.
Just another invasion into the lives of everyday people by big brother. Leave us all alone and look in your own backyards.
I hope Kieran comes out unscathed.
    cheers

Look, I don't want to see KJ beaten out of the game but I think people here are using the too-convienient excuse "it was only $10 bucks". So what if he got away with it or if people turn a blind eye because its so small? What's to stop a player then increasing the bet as his confidence grows that he can get away with it? The AFL (much as it pains me to say) has to stamp this down, just like they did with Justin Charles and his 'roids and, going back a long time, to the Bribery Scandal of 1910 when Lang and Fraser were suspended for 5 years each.

I'll say again that I don't want to see KJ booted out of the game, but this is a very serious breach that deserves more then just a slap on the wrist.

It's not a serious breach. The serious breaches are bets laid using an account opened by your mate on your team losing.

"Swans coach Paul Roos said Jack had the club's full support and his future at the Swans was not in jeopardy.

"I haven't spoken to Kieren yet, but I believe what he says," Roos said."

How long has this been a story??? And the coach still hasn't spoken to him yet..................

Im with you on that one. Just as Rene Rivkin used the defence of "...but I only made a couple of hundred bucks" in his insider trading defence, size of the transaction is irrelevant.

Betting on games by players is a serious offence no matter what the amount bet or game bet on.

Having said that, KJ committed the offence very early in his career and has admitted his error. He clearly can develop into a great AFL player, so I just hope he receives an appropriate reprimand and learns from his error, so he can fulfill this potential.

He should enjoy these 15 minutes of fame. Having watched him play it will be likely all he will get.

Rules are rules and there are very good reasons why AFL players, coaches and administrators are not allowed to bet on AFL games.

A reprimand is what he should get. I agree that the amount is irrelevent - a win on $10 might encourage a $100 bet next time and so on.

It shows that Roos is truly serious about letting Longmire being coach during the pre-season

You should be allowed three small bets before they release your name.

The AFL would just be punishing the players stupid enough to bet under their own name. The smart ones would pass on information to their acquaintances for them to bet on.

Or just walk up to a TAB and bet in cash....

Society only punishes drink drivers who get caught as well but it doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished just because others are getting away with it.
