    Is Leo being greedy?

Channel 7 in Melbourne reported the following this evening regarding Leo Barry's ongoing case against TABcorp . . . . .

It's alleged that an out-of-court offer was made to Barry's lawyers and it was refused. AFLPA boss, Brendan Gale, said on the news that Leo had the full support of the AFLPA up until the offer was refused. I can't recall his (Gale's) exact words but he intimated that they thought that Barry had a legitimate argument but that he and his lawyers are now taking it too far.

    Thoughts?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

Leo is a @@@@ing champion and any suggestion that he is in it for the dosh and not the rights of players generally is a hate filled cancer on the boards. Why do you hate the Swans so much Claret?

Of course he's being greedy, so is his lawyer.

It gets worse - I believe, despite evidence to the contrary and popular opinion, that Paul Roos is in fact Human.

If I can see myself in the new banner at the top of your screen does that mean I can sue RWO?

Adam? Must be too late for me.

I figure there are about as many people in the above photo as in Leo's pack mark.

Doesn't seem like much support is forthcoming from the AFLPA after all. If Gale did in fact say this publicly, he should be stood down immediately. Perhaps it was cheaper for TAB corp to slip some money directly into the AFLPA (or Gale himself), rather than the person who took one of the most important marks in the game's history?

But none of those in the above photo dominate the image. Leo taking a spectacular grab to win the Grand Final, that dominates the picture in question.

I think Leo should go for it. The AFL should have paid royalties to Leo (like any other player) for the Sportsbet campaign that lasted a while. Apparently they did not even ask his permission which is required in the CBA. The TAB are also suiing the AFL as the TAB thought that the AFL had sought Leo's permission. Why wouldn't Leo go for it. The AFL have done the wrong thing. By the AFL making an offer they are really saying they are wrong. Who knows what the offer was - probably something crappy. I don't know Leo personally but I do not think he is greedy. It is players' rights. If your work breached your contract and used you as the face of a campaign (making money off it) wouldn't you want something for it.

Actually used to work in the legal field just as a secretary. Went into work to catch up with work friends the other day and was reading the lawyer magazine and it had an article on Leo's case in there. Basically what I posted were the facts from that article!

Anyway, let's hope Leo is playing this Friday. He did not play last week.
