Hmm, interesting remarks. I think they will be revoking his West-australian 'citizenship' after comments like this. To be honest I see the Eagles as an American style franchise. So the name fits totally. they used to be run by the company "Indian pacific". Now it is the WA Football Commision. Their "members" do not get an annual report into the club's financial position. They do not have voting rights or anything either.

The Eagles are little more than an american style franchise. So a tacky name like "West Coast Eagles" fits them & their big business mentality perfectly.

Dennis Cometti has been harping on about disliking the name 'West Coast' ever since the club's inception. This article is recent, but the comments he made in regards to the topic of the name were made by him in the mid-90s when the club held a vote whether to change the name from 'West Coast' to something different.

He was mystified at how his comments from over a decade ago made recent article. I guess it's just an example of shonky journalism from The Worst Australian.

You haven't seen me post in every thread that bags WCE. I respect the opinions of each and every RWO poster.

My post in this thread was constructive and informative. If you had not known I was an Eagles supporter you would have been none the wiser. Read my post carefully and you should find it was free of bias towards any particular team.

Its a dumb name because West Coast refers to the entire coastline, from somewhere up past Derby south to Denmark. West Coast (the team) doesn't represent the western coast of Australia, just a small sliver of it in North Perth.

Does every point north of Melbourne represent Nth Melbourne?
Is every dog west of the RSPCA compound represented by the Western Bulldogs?

Perth is on the West Coast of Australia and their name is perfectly reasonable.

You first to questions are actually suburbs where the teams originated and were represented from. So I don't think they are valid to your argument.

As for the third one, it is not every dog, just the bulldogs.
