    Round One - TV coverage

I almost had a heart attack reading the TV Guide in Sydney Morning Herald today listing the Sat night 7:30 game on TEN as Lions v Hawks ... WTF!!!!!!!!!

    And nothing on SEVEN.

Then, did a followup search on NINE's tv guide to see that, yes indeedy, it's our boys v the addicts*.

*sorry, that's way too harsh ... mmmm, how about substance abusers - that's much more PC.

Quite common last year. Usual 20 minute delay though.

A mate told me that on the Merrick and Rosso show this morning, they said that Hungry Jacks will be doing another promotion this Saturday night at the game. Another important reason to be there.

Apparently if Wet Toast wins, everyone will be able to get for free a Ben Cousen's meal deal this week.

It's very slimming too. You don't get the burger or any fries, just the coke and ice.

That joke was on TFS last week - Trevor I think - might not have been original to him of course.

It's in the contract that in Sydney all our games will be, at worst, near live. Saturday will always be on TEN, Friday and Sunday are Seven - for H&A anyway, don't know what the deal is for Finals - most likely the same except for the GF.

So long as you throw in the word "recreational", it all becomes good.

I wouldn't trust the guide in SMH. They might have copied it from The Age. TV Guide on nineMSN is listing Swans vs WCE on Ch 10 for Sydney. The Lions vs Hawks is shown live on Foxtel, so it wouldn't be shown on Ch 10 at the same time.

Of course as I have mentioned previously I will always want the option of coming home after the game, rewinding the DVD player (heh heh), puttin' up the feet and watching the win again in all its glorious detail.

... or hitting DEL in the case of a less attractive scenario ..

I must have missed something - I thought that Channel 7 said that, as a compromise, they were going to show a replay of each Sundays early match late at night?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

That's excellent news. I hope you find somewhere showing it, or that you can subscribe yourself. Setanta are a pub only proposition in Australia.

A pi$s poor mistake by the SMH that could end up costing 10 a lot of viewers - although it may have the positive effect of more people actually attending the game.

Have already subscribed. 15 quid per month. With that I get the GAA match of the week as well. Not a bad lineup on Setanta all told!

Not that it is too tough to see AFL games in London. Most, if not all of the Aussie themed pubs (Walkabout, Slug etc) show AFL/NRL/Super14 games through the week on replay (Aquired legally I am sure)
