Goodes "off field" activities affect his game.

Roos revealed at yesterday morning's recovery session after the heartbreaking loss that he had already spoken to Goodes a few weeks ago over concerns about his off-field activities.

"We had a bit of a chat just he and I about how much he's been doing off the field and that's sort of been curtailed over the last couple of weeks," Roos said.
But certainly I'll sit down with Goodesy during the week because he didn't look like the Adam Goodes that we know and the Adam Goodes that's had a very good pre-season.
Here's an idea: Don't use him as a tagger.

Duh, he's playing in the Sydney midfield.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

No it isn't. It does explain his trip to the rooms and then reduced time on ground in the second half.

Hopefully it's not too serious and he only misses a week or two.

Suddenly we seem to get an injury each week.

He was limping quite badly when he came off for good.

I have alot of respect for Roos, but this article really got under my skin. He's essentially blaming everything except his own coaching mistakes, which IMO is the reason Goodes had a quiet night. Judd and Goodes are both stars, but they're different players entirely. Asking Goodes to run with Judd, is like expecting Judd to out mark Goodes in a one-on-one, it just wont happen. Everyone here knows that Goodes plays his best football when he's roaming and doing what he wants, why Roos felt he needed to mess with that, is beyond me!

Why Roos felt the need to single him out for comment is beyond me. Hopefully people won't be thinking that Goodes' off-field activities are anything like those of some of the WCE players. A silly thing for Roos to say IMO.

Goodes needs to stop feeding the homeless and reading to orphans, and start taking a good, hard look at himself

Goodes needs to watch himself here, there is precident.

I knew Goodes did some work with the aboriginal community but as I've been working long hours and haven't had the time or energy to do much reading (of newspapers or anything else for that matter) I wasn't aware of his "off-field" activities to which Roos was referring.
I still think it is a daft thing for him to say as there are plently of people who may not be aware of his "off-field activities" and may think something untoward.

BTW there is still no need for Roos to single him out, he wasn't Robinson Crusoe on Saturday night.

I believe Goodes is a member of that commission for aboriginal affairs set up by the PM a while ago. It looks to me it takes too much of his time. Adam, please, leave politics aside until the end of footy season. Thank you.

i was hoping that the extra 'off-field activities' Roos' was referring to was extra gym work or something similar. I realise that it was probably not the case but I can still dream.

Maybe the journalists asked him about Goodes' performance. Even so, Roos' should have rolled out some cliches and given them nothing, he obviously is out of "post-match interview" touch.
