That does go some way to answering NMWBloods' point in another thread:

Perhaps you don't get any rest for losing but you may well lose for giving some players a deliberately slower start to the season. Especially given that our "top shelf" talent are the older players.

Our midfielders have to be more proactive they should run to space and call for the ball, if our current group can't do that then the advantage that Everitt brings to the centre is wasted, and we might as well have kept Chambers cause hitting the ball to a contest is not what Spider is about. Maybe it is time someone like Tadhg was given a go in the centre. How much easier would it be for the forwards if we could burst out from the centre and get it down to them real quick.

I have been harping on this for the past few years. Our clear centre bounce clearances are few and far between. Partly due to the slow reaction time and leg speed of our midfielders who go in there at the bounces. We need quick minds, feet and hands in there.

Ablett, Kirk, Mathews and Bolton are the same types (as above). Mix it up a bit please coaches.

Everitt needs to let our midfielders know which opposition player he is going to tap it to. 2 or 3 of them can then tackle that player and ensure another stoppage.

Everyone? Your post is the 20th post in this thread. With an avarage 125 different (unique) members online daily, that is hardly everyone. And this is also not the only thread that mentions Spida.

Do an advanced search on "Spida AND Everitt AND Spider", show yesterday and newer posts only and show the results as posts - wow, I found 28 posts, more than in this entire thread ...

              Sorry, couldn't resist

Well, there were three or four slightly negative comments in a thread that went nowhere. That really wasgiving it to him

I thought Spider did bloody well yesterday. Some good marks, good taps, great tackle! Its going to take time for everything to gel but I am very optimistic! Go swans gutsy win!

I wrote somewhere that I thought it would take him a few weeks to get going and used to our side. He looked tired and slow last week, but a lot of that was not quite knowing where our players were. This week he found more confidence and sureness within our team. Also ably assisted by a poor Tigers ruck division. But you could still clearly see the class and nous of Spida. Damn shame we didn't get him last year or we'd almost definitely have won back-to-backs.

I liked his mark in the last few minutes. We were behind him and could see it coming. The holding the ball was on the cards, the guy stood there with Spida next to him, as soon as the umpire called play on he collared him...quick thinking by the big fella.

I said give him a month, but a week will do.

Loved his tackle, on the tiger who was called to play on. Spida pretending to be puffed standing off to the side. As soon as the ump called play on, he nailed him. Very cheeky.

Spida is probably the best mark in the game. In a one on one either in front or behind, he is almost a certainty to get his vice like grip around the footy.

If he is going half pace at the moment and is a genuine standout when on his game, what chance the Brownlow. He has been known to gives the umps a spray in the past, but I would suggest that wont happen with us.

If he bobs up with 9 marks 18 possessions and a couple of goals on a regular basis he might be worth a punt. He might have been up against little opposition but who has top rucks up to his standard - WCE, Freo, Port?, Melbourne, maybe Adelaide, Essendon. Not much.

I thought that was clever and smart from the big man.

his tap to O'keefe which lead to a goal was poetry in motion. I knew my excitement about spider coming to Sydney would be justified regardless if he played against a weak ruck division.

his tap work is just a pleasure to watch.

The funniest part of his game was when he was chasing the ball, on the MCC side of the ground. He's certainly all legs.

His marking and positioning to get into a marking position was well anticipated yesterday, exp. when the tiges hit the front.
