    Why not drop them all?

After viewing this site over the last couple of years I think every senior player has been regularly dumped in the "need to be omitted" or even the "get rid of them" bin. Only Nick Davis seems to be immune to the knife in the back from the "supporters".

Reading contributions from a wide range of "supporters" I also get the feeling that the coaches must be hopeless too. Tactics seem hopeless, the "Bloods culture" is criticized and even wins are greeted with derision at times. Contributors demand reserves players be promoted, but the moment they play the odd game in the ones they are fodder for the back stabbers.

I love discussions about the progress of the team, but how about commented that a player's form is a little below what we have come to expect from a member of a premiership outfit rather than just suggesting that the time has come for the club to cut them adrift.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

I think Jolly should be dropped and cut adrift.

Agreed, there are some very harsh comments being thrown around, and the loss is being exaggerated from every angle. Some of the critisisms are valid, though. Leo isn't fit to be our FB, but i don't know who is? Jolly is an average ruckman at best, and all i can say is THANK GOD we got Spida. Finally, Jude and Mathews are surely on their last chances, that's just being honest.

You haven't been reading for long.

          Agree/agree

I am finally sick of these so called supporters that are quick to and consistantly critisize a club that has proven to be succesful over a fairly long time.
Yes, I have followed the Bloods for over 50 years and I sometimes get embarrased when so called "supporters" knock our team.
WAKE UP PEOPLE...we are in good hands and Doomsayers on this forum have no impact at all.
If you can't SUPPORT, then get off the wagon.
          Footnote:
To those people who think that supporters of SOUTH are now old news, let me remind you of the banner at the 2005 Grannie .bet you can't recite it

Either get on board as a supporter and stop knocking, or find something else to do.

Real supporters are there in the good times and the bad..and support!

No one at the club is trying to do a bad job

Let's get more positive people! Let's hear the positives more often.

While RWO can occasionally seem like a bubbling cesspit of negative rage... IMO it's a pretty optimistic place on the whole. Some disappointment is naturally unavoidable just after a pathetic performance like we saw on Saturday. From what I've read, I've seen very few people just giving up on the club altogether. Higher expectations leading to outrage over a substandard performance, sure.

If you look at the people bagging Roos.. Or the people bagging Davis... or the people bagging Jude Bolton.. or the people bagging Darren Jolly... They are very rarely all the same people , and they are certainly not representative of the majority of opinions all the time. Okay, maybe just one exception for all those who think Benny Mathews is past it

I don't think we need to appoint a morale officer just yet (and if we did, you'd have to go for the Lobster wouldn't you? Just for kicks?). 6-10 angry opinions on one thread aren't a worry, that's just healthy debate!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I have been following the Swans since 1986. I also spend approximately 2K per year in footy expenses in supporting the footy club. I think I have earned the right to praise/critisise/appraise and generally comment on each game the Swans play.

The fact is that we played a side with 5 players out at home and put in a sub standard performance. By my saying so does not make me any less of a supporter. I would be more worried about our supporter base if there wasn't some spirited discussion after a poor performance.

I too have supported the Swans for 50 years, but I got sick of going week in week out and listening to supporters say dont knock our boys when they were getting flogged time and time again.

Now I am used to winning and dont want it to stop, and I am damned if I am going to stay silent on players who keep getting a game because of name or membership of the leadership group. We have to improve our list from the lowest common denominator and as Roos and our heirachy says, we dont ever want to have to go to the bottom to get back to the top. So we as supporters have a right to question that philosophy if players are not being brought on for the future.

Jude Bolton was shocking in the GF and his game was on Saturday was a carbon copy of that. The stats on him brought up in another thread say that he is not a midfielders bootlace. So where else does he play that will give value to the team. Answer, nowhere. Right now he and Mathews are the lowest common denominators who can be replaced with little or no negative impact on the side, in the name of development and the future.

The only other player I have a beef with is Bevan.

For goodness sake we cant be warm and fuzzy as football supporters all the time. It's just not footy culture.

The text in bold is spot on!! Those two players could be replaced and it could only result in a positive for Sydney. If you want to give Jude a cuddle after every crap performance, go ahead, but i wont be. Like i said in another thread, this game against Richmond should be a chance to bring in the new, and filter out the sitting ducks, but it wont happen.

Schmidt/DOK in for Jude, Schneider in for Mathews, and in the future i think Jesse White should replce Vogels. Crouch will be a huge plus when he returns too, and LRT to a lesser extent.

You are not negative and put up a reasonable opinion and I am so pleased that you didn't have to qualify yourself on a dollar basis as some think this is important to supporting our club.....I just like positive forward thinking debate and not doomsaying negativity.

Never will I be a doomsayer. It is however more frustrating when you are near the top of the mountain and get done by a point because of perennial chokers like Bolton, than it is supporting a battling club who get done by a point. Maybe because I am now supporting a club that is succesful I am less tolerant of failure and mediocrity.
