OK Julian, put those lights back
I know you are desperate to get the Essendon match changed so you can go and watch the Socceroos, but this is taking it too far.
I know you are good at smuggling oversize flagpoles around the country, but how are you going to fit the light tower in hand luggage???Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

The SCG Trust are an absolute disgrace. Without the Swans they'd only have a couple of cricket matches a year to keep them going. They owe the club in a massive way but you wouldn't know it. They don't care about anything except looking after their own nests, from the cynical way they have all entertainment based right in front of their stand ignoring the rest of the ground to the pathetic food and beverage servie they give us. Someone from the Swans and/or the AFL should have a serious look at the contract they have with the SCG and look at invoking penalty clasues at the very least.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

It is pretty funny.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Five days of a test match - of which the first two or three are almost certain to sell-out nowadays. Plus around 3 one day internationals, again which sell-out or get close to capacity.
That compares with around 8 Swans games each year.
Revenue-wise, the cricket is almost certainly more important to them than the footy.
That said, the football is still an important source of revenue, and they probably receive more from the Swans as it is their main training venue.Comment

It is actually pretty even between football and cricket.

I was there for that one too. It was only Springsteen's professional determination to make sure he played his full show for us anyway that kept it from becoming a complete debacle. I suspect he overplayed the curfew by some margin.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

Assuming I'm still living in Sydney by the time of the Essendon game, I'll definitely be going to it and NOT to the Socceroos game. Not going into reasons as to why to be honest.
Seriously, I hear that contingency plans were well under way for all of this to happen way back when the draw was announced last year. It is just that the media have cottoned on to things now.

On the footy show, Billy Brownless mentioned that Paul Roos was going to bend over and solve all lighting problems.Comment

this is the first sensible thing you have said in a long time.
and to all the ill-informed or un-informed people , ( yes including you baron hay).
the light towers have come down due to ground redevelopment ( thats not unreasonable and contingency plans have been in place) The afl voiced concern about this last week , hence jill lindsay from the afl , the head of foxsports , and the swans met with the scg trust to dicuss this .the scg trust have plans for temporary lighting . the swans have known about this for a long time.
the swans have also known about the grounds redevelopment and had input into facilities. they demanded these improvements before signing off on deal to continue at the scg.
miles baron hay is now claiming compensation should be payed to swans from the scg trust because the grounds capacity has been reduced from 43k to 34k...miles wake up to yourself , why should the scg trust provide any compensation to the swans , after all the swans at the scg only averaged 31k last season...storm in a tea cup created by uninformed media and uninformed rwo members.case closed..new thread please, this one is boring me @@@@lessComment
