Totally agree about the pathetic commentary today. Totally biased towards the Tigers all day long. I commented to my wife during the game how poor they were. Also blamed the Swans for all the stoppages when the Tiges were also trying to get all their numbers around the ball and flooding back as well.

As for the Swans, I just wish that when we are 60m out we would just boot the ball to the goal square. We turned the ball over too many times when trying to chip back. Anyway just glad we won.

Great game by Everitt, Kennelly, C. Bolts in particular!!
    Swannies for life!

Not everyone is a Judd, they don't become stars over night. Vogels is a slow developer, so is LRT, but they both seem to be very important to our future plans. I thought Schmidt was very encouraging today, better than Phillips last week.

I agree, & the same for the O'keefe mark / kick in last quarter. He was capable of the distance & it would have sealed the game. For some inexplicable reason he kicks it 30 yards out from goal to a Richmond player. Brain explosion.

Jude Bolton's mark at centre half back, surrounded by 3 Richmond players witrh about 3 mins remaining was the decisive moment of the game. If they had scored, we would have only led by 5 with Richmond on a roll. Instead, Bolton kicked well downfield resulting in our final goal and a matchwinning 17 pt lead. Thanks Jude, you made amends for last weeks crap shots at go9al. He should always play defensive.

Spida was BOG for me. Worth every $$$$$$ today.

Malceski continues to improve - continues to become the class player we hope he'll become.

Richmond played well. Sydney and WC are the teams to beat and we can expect most to live when they play us. Richmond did just that but we held and won. That is to our credit. We are a great team.

Mathews sucked so I guess Grundy will be dropped for next week.

I thought Everitt justified his place today, showed his experience knowing when to move back and forward - cutting off richo in last qtr.

Mathews got the ball a lot but just didn't dispose of it effectively, I reckon.

He was awful, every time he got the ball I was thinking what is he doing. I would prefer if he got zero possessions as a harm minimisation strategy.

I'm with you ROK. Reckon you've nailed it.

Early season, you expect teams to be a bit rusty. Swans were by no means great today but reading some comments, it seems as if people were assuming the Swans would win by 50+. Turn the colour off and imagine the team we played today were wearing gold and blue, or red, white and black, and I reckon we'd be pretty content with the performance. Richmond were very gallant today and certainly made a match of it.

The one area where we should have had a massive advantage was in the ruck - and we did. So we can't complain there. Massive game from Spida. If he stays fit, he's going to make a huge difference. What was impressive was that he knows where to stand to make a difference, not so much at stop plays but around the ground. It is one thing being tall and a good mark, but it is the smarts, the knowing where to go, that we've lacked since Bally retired.

Yeah, I agree. I was getting worried as hell watching the telecast but I could tell we were still working hard and the Tigers kept hanging in there. Responded very well in the last quarter once Richmond hit the front. Hall was smiling at the end of the game so I don't think the injury is serious, but if he is out for a few weeks it's not all doom and gloom, we did alright when he was off today I thought.

I don't mind if we're still a bit rusty early on in the season but still winning games (like today), the main thing is we don't fall behind on the W-L ratio as we have the past few years. We're at 1-1 now, same as in 2005, so the next few weeks are pretty important.

Can't agree with that. He ain't quick and his penetration isn't great but he used the ball pretty solidly today and played as an effective link man in the centre. Best game he's played for possibly a season.

Not as important as his possession count suggests, but certainly handy today.

Agree about the commentary - Tony Shaw was so repetitive about the lack of holding the ball calls and he and Dwayne did sound biased. I like Lynch though.

Spida showed what a difference experience can make, even if he's lost a bit of pace he hasn't lost his football smarts. Mathews had a much better game this week, as did J. Bolton.

Craig Bolton was very good on Richo, not an easy task. My heart goes in my mouth every time Leo has the ball but Kennelly got plenty of run of the HB. The fact we didn't panic (generally) in the final quarter helped get us over the line. At least we have the four points!

Yes, agree with that assessment as well. I thought Matthews played one of the best games I've seen for a while.
                                He must've started reading RWO.
