Swans v Lions - Game day thread

Bazza doesn't seem to have any troubles, knee or ankle, good run to try and get to a ball just then

      Not a bad first quarter.

      Few notes.

Good grab and pass by Grundy.
Schmidt is great with his hands under pressure, as is Malceski.
Hall, no problems on fire so far.
O'Keefe has been more lively than recent as has Goodes.
Need to make sure we fill the hole to distrupt Brown's lead.
Need better direction from Ruckman with taps although there were a couple of good ones in that quarter.
Dempster has been pretty good releasing us from half back (and a great kick to Hall).

      Overall not a bad quarter...

        Interesting game so far.

C Bolt will need help against Brown, but he's done okay so far considering.

Hall doing well, but two of his goals should have been free kicks.

We'll need a lot from Goodes and O'Keefe today.

Better signs from Schmidt and Grundy.

Yes he does - Looks like the only real damage is being caused by Brown

Okay so we lead. Pretty poor quarter overall by Sydney. Had trouble finding targets, especially up forward. Hall barely saw the ball.

Schmidt still looks good in the packs, a couple of smart handballs to clear the ball.
In some aspects we are using the hallball well but often giving one too many handballs which is getting us into trouble.

The players running off each other has generally been pretty good. We have been trying to move the ball as quickly as we can which has been good to see.

                Tight half.

                O'Keefe our best.

Some good work in patches by Schneider, Fosdike, Jolly, Buchanan, and J Bolton, but overall not enough. They are generally beating us in the midfield. Poor half by Goodes.

Excellent stopping effort on Power by Mathews as well as a goal.

Fumbles, Fumbles Fumbles. We just cannot get clean pickup of the ball. Every Swans is doing it. This costing us and is putting us under pressure that should not be...

We are putting ourselves under pressure. Shocking quarter.

Pretty poor quarter. Poor disposals, poor decision making, poor skills, too many fumbles, too slow thinking and reacting. Rather disappointing.

Shame Dempster has gone off injured - was doing a fine job on Sherman.

Mathews doing an outstanding job on Power. Kirk doing pretty well on Black. C Bolt doing well on Brown.

Our defensive clearances are pretty ordinary and our disposal under no pressure is lacking but we are getting done by a good team at this point in the game - 3 Q time. 10 points down but had a lot of the footy in the last 10 minutes.

Agree with the defensive effort, but he turned his back on goal when a quick handpass to Monty right in the goal square was available. [Maybe quick isn't in Matthew's vocabulary? ] Davis would have been dropped for turning his back and not doing the team thing!

McVeigh and Buchanan's finishing is not up to scratch.
