Brisbane look like a pretty decent squad - they should make finals if their young players can last out the year.

Would be interesting to see how we cope with that style of team on a bigger ground.

Absolutely beside myself.......No-one told me I would still have to play hockey when we are rostered to play whilst the Swans are on.

Rushed home from Devonport....Not much detail on this thread...but enough to pick up a few bits and pieces.

Game day live wouldn't work properly on AFL.com.au until I saw the thing to go to if it is not working. The run down of the goals made it seem that we got a few goals in the first half through Kirk's hard ball gets and then some link work through the backs with marks inside Fifty.

Bazza seemed to kick long goals and Schmidt finished in a blaze of glory.

On the stats sheet Fosdike covered himself in glory and Jolly got a gizillion hit outs.

      Have I interpreted it correctly?

I missed the whole bloody game as i was at karate grading all day. Then i thought about going across the road to the pub but @@@@ no foxtel, its pissing me off no end that the swans games are not on FTA.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Very interesting contest and a great last quarter produced by Sydney. I thought it was going to be a real shoot out between Hall and Brown throughout the 4 quarters but only in the 1st.

Kicking for goals let us down again, the margin should've been a lot more especially in the last quarter. 41.9% conversion rate is not good enough, need to kick better. However, Swans had a lot more of the ball and dominated the ruck according to the stats.

I'm very disappointed about the coverage of this game over here in Perth, nothing on TV or the radio (except for some scores) and I don't have Foxtel.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Just got back from the game.

I can't be as enthusiastic about the game as others have posted. We were lucky we ran over the top of them in the end as it seemed we were determined to lose it.

Appalling skills as times, poor decisions and missing targets.

Schmidt was OK but surely not worth all the praise he's getting. Some basic mistakes but his 2 goals were excellent.

Spida was ordinary today, as was Schneider. One good goal but some appalling fumbles and turnovers.

Fosdike clearly BOG - a phenomenal game.

Struggled through the midfield all day except that last quarter. Bolton, Kirk, McVeigh, Ablett just couldn't win enough ball.

In the end, we did enough to win the 4 points, some encouraging signs, but still very rusty.

Third qr was particularly awful - other than that, thought the first half was a good tight contest, and we obviously stepped up a gear in the last. Still many a blunder & a long way off our best, but it was a good win vs an in-form & willing opponent.

Agree on Schmidt - I remain thoroughly unconvinced - perhaps the last qr goals will lift his confidence.

Craig Bolton - what a sensational effort! Looked like getting towelled up early but stuck to his guns and did fabulously well to contain Brown after quarter time. Just loved the way he kept mixing it up, trying different ways to contest - sometimes keeping close, others staying a distance away at contests to give himself room to run and jump, experimenting with the early jump (admittedly with limited success but at least he was trying to do different things).

In terms of value for money (ie draft pick cost) has there ever been a better pick up by the Swans since the start of the draft era?

A lot of Schmidt's work was done in close. He seemed the most likely of the midfielders to effect a cleanish clearance from centre bounces so in that respect he looks like a promising addition.

If I could pinpoint a criticism it was kicking for goal.

Takes a good side not playing their optimum to find a way to win. Thought Schmidt was terrific in the trenches and Fosdike was great all day. The roar after Leos goal was something spine tingling. No way were they going to get beat after that.

Just thinking about the "goal" that was disallowed to MOL in the last quarter for hands in the back, yet different umps give a different interpretation to the same rule with the McVeigh mark vs Carlton.
