He won't get the nomination, but he's going very well. It's good to see one of our young ones going well as so many of the other clubs seem to have 2 or 3 kids coming in and going great guns. I have this nagging feeling it's gonna come back to bite us in a few years, but then again I'm a born pessimist!

I think Schmidt is too old for the Rising Star.

He really seemed to lift after he kicked his 1st goal.

Played with confidence after that. First time I have personally thought he may become a long term player.

Think he is just young enough - turned 21 in March this year. Have to be under 21 on 1 January.

Yeah, Schmidtty is playing well, I think he will develop in to a handy player. I do think that Hawkins deserved (and got) the nomination for this week though. I think he is going to be something special...unless he cracks under the pressure that Geelong have put on him (I know they are trying to keep him away from this, but I don't think they have done a very good job).

Hawkins is going to be a champion of the game for a long time to come.
But it will be interesting to see how long it takes before he stops looking like he is @@@@ scared to be even out there.

If he improves a bit, there will be no doubt that he might get a nomination sometime this year, hopefully.

I just watched the 2nd half against Brisbane again on Foxtel tonight (match of the round!?) and I could see that Schmidt had a really good last quarter. Lots of potential there.
