As much as I hate to single out individual players - How many more opportunities for McVeigh and Grundy? McVeigh must understand that we chose him ahead of other players like Schammer & Salopek, who are performing well in their current teams (Schammer currently injured).

Finally, what's with this ONE WIN out of the past NINE against the Crows - This is just embarrasing!
It is because McVeigh was chosen at pick 5 that so much time and faith has been shown in him! They just won't accept that he is not good enough and is in fact a liability and is keeping someone out of the team who may prove to be better even if he wasn't a high pick. They need to admit they made a mistake with that pick and drop him. It's not as if it's the first high pick they've wasted!

I thought apart from our woeful shooting for goal we were OK. I reckon most people on RWO would have pencilled that one in as a defeat before the season.

We had as many possessions and in general play broke even, our defence was grand (9 goals). Even with our poor field disposal if we kicked straight for even half the time we win.

Care to predict how many more games we will LOSE for the rest of the year. If we play as hard and tough as that, not too many I predict.

No point being hard and tough if you don't have the skills to match.

I actualy don't think we'd beat many teams on that performance.

Probably can agree with the "were OK" bit - In the end, as woeful as we perceive them to have been, it was only a 17 point "drubbing" at AAMI - Better than the 39(?) point loss at the SCG last year - But I cannot agree that woeful shooting for goal was the only downfall - General kicks in play went over the head of targets, short of targets, to an opposition target or the attempted kick was no more than a lovetap with the aglet and it finished on the ground a meter or two from the kicker's boot. It is not just shooting for goal, it's the whole kicking caper - and, if I may, I will not tar Malceski and Tadhg with that particular feather.

Maybe we need to change the Puma boots.

A very judgmental lot, aren't we.Consider the pleasure these boys have given you and the small amount of pain,as last night.I agree that some players have become complacent and a run in the two's would not hurt them. There are some good young fellas playing in the seconds who are have the ability to perform better than players we see week in,week out.
It's time to cut the mustard and give some others ago.

              What a bizarre post!

                Two more things to add...
It was amazing watching the Adelaide team create pockets for McLeod to operate in across half back and still offer him midfield and half forward targets; every time he had the ball I was in awe, but not so much of McLeod (impressive as he is) but of how well the team supported him.
If Davis doesn't come in this week and Grundy holds his place then Vogels could feel pretty hard done by. I'm a big believer in giving the young guys a run for a few games straight, Vogels was given one week and (I think) did better than Grundy has in any of his 3 outings in this run.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

In the first stages of Q1 our foot passing was a beauty to behold leading to 4 scoring shots on goal within about 10 minutes (IIRC).
Crows dropped a man back and we had no easy path in the F50.
We didn't adapt at all to the shepherding and decoy running as the Crows rebounded.

How calm is he when he gets the ball?

Except for the OOBOTF (pushed as he kicked) and few times in the first 5 mins. when our pressure was intense, he was awsome. Many Crows contributed, but he was certainly the big difference between the teams.

As frustrated as I was everytime he got the ball, I had to admire his skill and athleticism.

Just got back home from Adelaide.

We got the usual Adelaide v Sydney game, agree these games are hard to watch (especially on TV) but when seeing them live (as I have the last 3 at AAMI) you really get a sense of just how physical in close and tight these two teams play. It's football by suffication, but the committment of both teams can't be questioned.

The game felt closer than it actually was scoreboard wise, which in the end came down to our poor goal kicking.

Read with some interest of the comments on here how Roos and the coaching staff didn't try to mix things up. I thought they started boldly with Everitt isolated at full forward which worked to a certain extent but the ball came out too quickly once it hit the ground. They tried a number of other combinations but the delivery of the ball into the forward 50 meant we just were not able to get a run on.

From my view point they tried in vain to drag Mcleod deep into the pockets at every stoppage but he just refuses to leave that central corridor. We tried to then play through his opponent but due to some poor skills and decision making we were still not able to make him accountable.

Clearly our best was O'Keefe, he has such a large tank and just gets to so many contests. Despite a couple of brain fades Kennelly was also extremely good one on one in the last half.

What can you take from the game?

Clearly both us and Adelaide are finals bound, we continue to generate plenty of opportunities but are not taking advantage of these but that will come as the season progresses.

While an SCG game against the Demons is always dangerous, they looked like they had their spirit broken today with another 3 players gone for next week with not much to come back.

Good summation DST on the game and your spot on with the kicking it was bad but the good thing was we created plenty of opportunities.IMO it was a 50/50 call for BOG between ROK and Mcleod and again we had about 6 of our best players who had an off day.We have to smash the D's next week and if we don't the doubters will be out in force.

Kennelly is a pleasure to watch.

Buchanan hits his targets by foot only 52% of the time!

I think our players need to watch Brad Sewell from the Hawks who has about a 90% accuracy rate.
