I thought Davis was very impressive last night. He was very disciplined with his disposals, worked much harder than we've seen in the past to push right up the ground, ROK style, when needed, and agree that that kick to Hall was pure class - almost the highlight of the game.

Seems like he really does want to prove to everyone - including himself - that he can make the most of his undoubted abilities.

      93% effectiveness - 11 kicks, 3 marks, 7 contested possessions, 8 uncontested possessions, 6 inside 50's, 3 tackles, 2 goals.

Tells me he covered a lot of ground, got in amongst it while also getting by himself plenty of the time. Only played 70% of the game. Not bad for first up and was obviously a fair way off top fitness.

He has played in only 6 of our last 17 games and it is no coincidence that he was there in our finals campaign and played well.

Is one of our genuine keys to success, and if as reported his attitude is the best it has been then we might be in for something special.
      6 marks,none contested,3 HB's,2 Clearences,No Clangers, and 1 assist.

How did he have no uncontested marks? The one he took in the first quarter near the boundar, after which he squared to Hall, was contested.

I think he's biggest asset is the Juddesque ability to run from packs with the ball in hand. He's easily the best in the team (not that that's hard).

                  Look at our midfield

                  Code:
                  B Kirk 2	2	14	50%
                  A Goodes	2	1	13	67%

                  A Buchanan	1	3	9	25%
                  L Ablett	1	2	8	33%
A return of 8-18. No wonder we're struggling.

Our midfielders certainly need some goalkicking practice especially Bolton and McVeigh. Maybe they should've seen Davis' perfect goal-kicking record and actually kick it to him, a 150th he'd never want to remember.

For all of the talk of lousy goalkicking, all of the specialist goalkickers are on pretty good stats, except Everitt and ROK; both of whom we can forgive 'cos they're otherwise playing well (and Everitt handed off two absolute beauties, that led to goals, after marks on the goal-line on the w/e).

It's the part-timers (i.e. midfielders) who have to have a good hard look at themselves... in a variety of ways. Bucky has always sucked as a shot at goal, though: that's pretty much just a given, in the same way that it's a given that if Kirk takes a mark more than 40 metres out (like, including 40.5 metres out), he'll desperately try to palm it off.

With no Flipper in the side, Schneider (who played well on Sat night) should be spending a lot more time up forward. 7 scoring shots in 6 games means that he's being used too defensively, for mine. Don't really mind if his % isn't outstanding because it's his job to grab the opportunist ball in traffic, and have a ping. Or at least, it should be.

                      Mathews still on 100%...
Mathews is among the most reliable in the side in set shots for goal (at least within a 45 metre range; haven't seen him take any from outside there). Pressure situations don't phase him; kicked one in the 2006 GF at a fairly desperate stage. Part of the whole package as a meat & potatoes footballer, actually: just goes back and kicks the ball between the white sticks. A fairly simple task; doesn't need any particular flair or genius to achieve it.

Micky O the only one on song ATM and we have all been guilty of baging him in the past. I think we realy only need Benny,Melcho and Davo shooting for goals and maybe we will kick more goals than points,oh maybe Hally chiping in for 1 or 2.

You are right about Mathews, he is very accurate.

I think from outside 45 he kicks to a pack or backwards.
