    BBBH: Missing In Big Games

Im a big Barry Hall fan...however..... his effort tonight was insipid. If he is clearly getting beaten as he was tonight why the hell do we insist on kicking it to him.

TWO times in the third quarter we didnt and Jolly kicked truly.

FFS I am frustrated. When Barry is getting beaten instead of whining to the bloody umpire... get in there.

    Another game that got away.

On another note... Grundy get back to ressies.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I am sure he is carrying his injury...

I didn't see that. We got a delayed telecast here, but i decided to switch it off at HT and just check the final scores. I'll be damned if i'm going to sit down and watch that crap for over 2 hours!!

I think masey may be right. Hall has trouble taking contested overhead marks, however his best work comes from strong hard leads. He was clearly unable to do that tonight, giving Rutten plenty of time to catch up and spoil. Still, that doesn't explain why they keep kicking it to him. If the crows are double and triple teaming him, that means WE have free men elsewhere!!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Ben Rutton did a supurb job on Hall tonight. I think it was more a case of poor disposal into our forward 50 and Rutton's oustanding defence rather than Hall's injury that limited his output tonight.

Sorry he got absolutely crap ball from the midfield tonight against 2 or 3 opponents at most contests.

So why blame Hall for poor decision making?

The only bad decision Hall could've made tonight, would be not decking half of his teammates in the change rooms after the match. That pass by Bucks in the second quater, when Hall was giving 4 players a piggyback ride, just stupid football!!

Didn't matter who they kicked to. Buchanan must have got the clanger record.

Hall simply cannot or will not take or attempt to take a contested mark. He will insist on trying to push and shove his opponent rather than go for the ball. One incident which they replayed on Ch10 several times - the last kick into forward line before 3/4 time- Hall was trying to push off his man and then at the last second lift his arms to take the mark. Too late. He had already allowed the guy to get close enough to get a fist on it. If he had gotten his hands up early (and thus meeting the ball higher in the air)- instead of using them for shoving his opponent - the opponent would have not have been able to get his fist near the ball. He is no full forward. Doesn't know how to mark. He's no Tony Lockett or Warwick Capper.
He needs to look at some Lockett tapes - Tony Lockett's School of Marking.

Amazingly the stats only have him for 4 clangers.

Also J Bolton got a vote in the Sunday H/S. Jesper Felsted, who are you kidding, our second best player, you are a turkey.

I would never expect a Centre Half Forward to be a Full forward, and that's what he is, try comparing apples with apples instead of with oranges.
