The thing about both Malceski and Kennelly, is that neither of them are particularly good defenders IMO. Not unusual though - often a trend for a couple of backmen to be there for rebound rather than defence (eg: Gilbee with the 'Dogs).
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

This is the perfect time to try another youngster,Matthew Laidlaw. On the other hand they may recall Luke Vogels or even Reg who came over as a backman.Roosy and Co have some thinking to do.

Leo was superb against Melbourne. It's true he didn't have a monster opponent to quell, but his rebound and accountability must be applauded. So far only a couple of Frees paid against him this year too.

Barry seems to be relishing the ability to play as a half bank flanker again.

Had a quick look at the stats this year.

              Malceski's season for Sydney 2007:

              1st in Kicks
              1st in Marks
              2nd in Disposals
              4th in Tackles

              3 goals
              0 behinds

I think it is the 4th in tackles that creams off those stats. Playing where he does, it isn't great shakes that he's high in kicks and marks. A lot of those marks are uncontested ones across half back.

But the fact that he is figuring highly in tackles is a very encouraging sign as it shows he's getting in there to do the dirty work too, when it's his turn.

And I suspect Swantastic will tell us that he's miles ahead of any other Swan for effective disposals.
