Would think he will come in and get a run with role in defence or midfield, which hopefully means that Roos will release McVeigh to play with freedom on the wing and let him run a couple of Saints into the ground.

Finally, some sensible analysis of this decision!!

Would still think Monty is doubtful with Laidlaw to come in for him if he does not come up.

Saints losing Baker & M Clarke are huge losses considering Hayes is already out.

Bevan doesn't win contested footy for christ's sake. He is always second to it, cant read the play to save himself and when someone stupidly handballs to him he doesn't know what to do with it. His think and reaction time are as slow as treacle. All he can do is try to barge rugby style which is what he learned as a kid. Ddin't someone say he was at it again last week trying to barge and got pinged.

I dont think the Swans selection panel like their supporters.

St KIlda lose 2 players but we hand back 2 by playing the lemon.

          Yep, from ORB's report...

On the downside, poor Bevo is in the horrors. He seems to think he can break tackles like Willy Mason, in fact he was caught and smashed several times ? and pinged HTB. Copped a nice shirt front for his trouble as well. Best I can say is that he never stopped trying. Brett Allison must have felt sorry for him because he was left in the forward pocket in the last quarter and picked up a couple of confidence lifting goals.
Very encouraging huh. I reckon if he gets pinned this week I'll be calling baaallll. The sooner he's retired to Canberra the better.

          P.S love the treacle line

How many hard-ball gets and clearances does he get and how many go to our players?

Not his job this week, Roos want's him to put a hard lock on a St Kilda small forward and release other players to hopefully get us moving.

Bevan seems capable of carrying out specific orders, never shirks a contest when asked and he sticks well to quick small forwards.

Hell, we have just spent the last week critising McVeigh because he can't do the lock down smoother role on a clever small forward and requesting that Roos free him up.

Bringing back Bevan for this week let's the likes of McVeigh & Ablett play more attacking roles which is what we want.

As long as he sticks to his direct opponent, does not get knocked off the ball or shirk a contest and limits the effectiveness of their best small forward then that is all that is required.

Make no mistake this game is going to be red hot, both teams are looking at this as a toe to toe slug fest. We got a taste of that last week against the Roos and came up wanting early in the game.

Clearly Roos wants a more steel this week and Bevan meets this requirment.

Hopefully Roos will then throw McVeigh onto a wing to use the space and let Alett play a more free role.

You make some good points DST, particularly in trying to find something behind the selection.
But almost everytime Bevo has had the footy in his hand this year, it hasn't been pretty. I wonder if they'll tell him to stay away from the pill, just lock down your opponent. That's the danger then, that'll he give as many away as he saves.

And gives free kicks away and is just yet another defensive player.

I doubt that will happen with Ablett. We'll see on McVeigh.

so I'm hoping to be in the best 22 towards the end of the year.
Shouldn't he want to be in the best 22 the ENTIRE year? Not just at the end where all the good stuff happens?

Can I ask why Crouch hasn't been told to spend a few weeks in the reserves to find some much needed form?? Other players have been dropped in previous years for the same reason so why is he so different?

As for Bevan, I would have thought players like Simpkins and Laidlaw deserved a spot in the seniors than him - at the very least they have heart!
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

To say Bevan isn't greatly endowed with skill is one thing but to imply that he doesn't have heart, is a load of crap - There wouldn't many on the Swans team that play with as much heart - ask McVeigh!

Theory in progress: there is a direct correlation between the level of outrage expressed by RWO posters on the week's selection decisions, and the Swans' chances of winning. Any stats gurus could help design an outrage-o-meter to test the theory.

The theory, of course, will take a big hit if we lose tomorrow night.
