It wasn't the scragging free kicks that annoyed me.

The HTB against Monty was a shocker - you know which of the three I mean, the other two were fair enough. Yet a few times Saints seem to be able to do a Chris Judd (ie a full pirouette while in possession and being tackled) yet not get pinged.

And some of the treatment Hall got was very ordinary - just couldn't take a trick from the umpires tonight. And while Kossie gave away a few ruck infringements, there were a lot more he didn't get pinged for.

I thought the umpiring was abysmal, most particularly the inconsistent treatment of the forwards.

I think it was a ruck contest when Kosi jumped right over the top of Jolly and he didnt get e free kick

It was a bloody disgrace! Particularly in the 3rd quarter just as we'd get a run on, bam! Free kick to the saints. While we probably weren't up to beating the Saints generally, if we hadn't been umpired out of it by 3/4 time I think it would have been a tight tussle with sheer guts and determination pulling the win off either way. It very much ruined the spectacle of what could have been an exciting, if not overly skillful match.

            you all laughed last week

Agree the umpiring was poor with Barry Hall getting the worst end of stick
again, hardly any frees for but many against. Finally I might have made a typing blue last week with "mark" not to be picked again McVeigh (jarad) but
again last night he proved he is not up to it. I also think that Bevo has lost it,
looked slow and unsure of himself. We also need some options high marking
up forward to take some pressure of Barry and Micky as they lead.

agree with you liz, that holding the ball decision against buchanan was a disgrace, why is it always the free kick count is high against the swans, bazza is still getting the rough end of the stick while messsars Anderson and the giesch are getting way with it.

The thing that the umpires are missing more than anything is shepherding (or blocking) players out of marking contests. The Saints did it at every contest they had more than one player. Shocking umpiring. The whole performance was a farce.

Yes we got a few shocking decisions particularly the high tackles that we didn't seem to get, but any slight touch anywhere near the shoulder to the Saints was paid.

Yes we may been robbed by non observance of blocking.

But.... for every free missed or against us we did 3 woeful disposals that did more damage than the umpiring. No contest to which one of these aspects of the game cost us the game.

What frustrated me more than not getting free kicks was how easily Nick Riewolt gets them. It seems now if you so much as touch Riewolts Arms, Back or Head in a contest its a free kick. This rule however does not apply to any other player on the field.

I agree. Reiwoldt can't do anything wrong but when Barry Hall gets man handled by 3 players at one he's the one who gives away the free!

I bet Reiwoldt is on the "proetcted species list". I almost spat out my coffee when I read such a list existed. It's blatant favouritism and borders on cheating in my books. Every player should be judged on their merits in each contest, not based on who they are and whether they are on a list.

I thought most of the free kick were there that were paid against us, however there were just as many that should have been paid against the Saints for exactly the same infrigements. Found that REALLY frustrating

Did anyone else think that Gehrig's 1st goal should have been a free to Leo for HTB?
