Agree.... as a referee... (Not AFL)... I may not always be right, I may see things differently to what the player does, and I may in fact be wrong. But one thing I will guarantee you is that, the player who argues, whinges, pisses & moans, will very, very rarely get the 50/50 calls go their way. If anything, it will go against them....

...That AFL umpires umpire the game and pay free kicks on what the reputation of a player is.
Players like Hall, will never get a fair go from the umpires because of the "Big Bad Bustling Barry Hall" reputation. Whereas the Reiwoldts, Hirds etc are given easy (read soft) free kicks because they have a reputation for being "clean" players. I am not saying that the above two examples are not good players because they are, but it's time all play was adjudicated on what actually happens, not what the reputation of the player is in the umpires minds.Premiers 09,18,33,05

Kirky is getting hammered by the Umps this season. Or does he normally get so heavily plundered by the Umps?
I have a feeling that he is chief beneficiary of the umps loving the "true ball players". Could it be that Kirky is feeling the pinch and not as fast and therefore not the first over the ball as much as he used to be?
Lastly, what about the stat that Kirky is the least effective by foot in the AFL in 2007? Was this a harsh stat from Fox Teams? Or should we take note that Sydney is forced into playing more contested footy this year therefore forced into less effective disposal.
OR
Is Kirky just ***** this year compared to previous years? The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of DisappointmentComment

What follows is that we play RUGBY and not "true ball", and in the eyes of the umpires (and that idjit Demerit-rio), we're scrappers, an unprotected species.
We have been dishing up a shipload of dumb frees too, but when the other team infringes (see 4th qtr. vs. Kangas) the rules don't apply.
This is nothing new and we've beat it in the past.
The AFL is worse than the NBA for rules for some and rules for the rest, but the NBA has never been dumb enough to come out and admit it.I was wrong about Gerard and his hair.
