As I said, he got dropped to the 2nds for the last 7 or 8 games of the season. Have a stab at what finals series do you think I may be talking about.

It's not as daft as it seems but I had in mind a different forward. I was thinking for the games where Baz is getting double teamed and he's having no luck, shift him down back for a bit. He also has played there and is big enough to take it to the key defender.

I do realise we will miss his forward presence, but removing him from the equation (if things aren't going our way) could make the others stand up and back themselves a little more, confuse the hell out the opposition as he could move forward at any time kind of like Leppitsch but reversed.

He played mainly down back in the period I stated. No doubt he had cameo roles up forward, but for all intents and purposes, in the period I am targeting, he was a backman. Yes, I'm sure

        Which finals?
        See above

I wasn't 'proving' anything except that the stats don't suggest he spent a lot of time down back.
Which is why I highlighted 'proving' because they didn't prove anything, as my take on them doesn't 'prove' anything.

He was listed at half forward and kicked two goals.
Please, you do yourself no favours if you claim where 'he was listed' as evidence of where he played. Now seeing as though you forced me to just sit thru that nightmarish game on DVD to convince myself that my memory hadn't gone completely, I'll tell you.

Q1, played the entire time at Back Pocket on Glenn Freeborn.

Q2, moved off Freeborn after Freeborn's second goal at around the 15-20 minute mark. Went to a half forward flank where he was picked up by firstly Laidley, then David King.

Q3, played the entire quarter on Mark Roberts, roaming the back third of the ground between Back Pocket and HBF.

Q4. Game gone, moved forward, in which quarter he kicked his 2 goals.

Surely you'd agree that is a pretty strange choice of positions in a GF for "a half forward, sometimes pushing up to be a midfielder"

Baz was tried down back at the Saints and wasn't very good at it.
I think he needs to just get up the ground a bit away from goal when he is double teamed.

Ted is probably the most versatile of the current 22, to go fwd or back. Has happen in short periods in recent weeks, but he spends most time down back.

Vogels is possibly the other one.

I remember he played down back that's why I started the thread.
            He's too old now though

Talk about statements not being backed up by facts!!!!

MOL played reserves finals in 95 in the days when it was a true reserves system, not the Canberra comp that we have today.

Well this is the easist way to tell bandwagoners from not.

Kicked 3 Goals from the half back Flank in 1996 GF was named and played there. Don't think he really started playing more forward until 1998, so by my figuring close to 4 years in backline. He often ducked forward early kicking early goals, then snuck back. But has played plenty on the backline

That said I doubt he has the run now

No show without Punch... you'd think you'd know a bandwagoner given you came in later than me, but yet you don't know...

So... 3 goals in the GF now... and named on the HBF... and now we're up to regularly playing half back for four years (95, 96, 97 and...? but more forward in '98...).
