Take a Bex and a good lie down ROK. You may have been in the lovely Canberra sun a bit too long today.

No passengers today but Bevan's disposal is shocking. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from 1 metre with a handful of wheat.Comment

It was the game we hoped for from the Swans, not the close contest we, as spectators, had hoped for. Really, as good as we were, we were let be good. Malceski was great, Goodes and MOL were excellent, most of the others were good, but we were scrappy a lot of the time with no real pressure applied and the Dogs were atrocious, whether under pressure or not. As I said above, it was a good win, but the Dogs were dreadful. You know those games where we have not turned up 'til half time. It was like that for the Dogs today, but all day.Comment

The intelligence of our footballers must be questioned at times. At one stage Goodes was one-out against Akermanis in the square, so instead of standing there and calling for it long and direct, Goodes led into the pocket. Very strange how we seem to obsess at times with leading toward the boundary.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

For my money, Adam "Nature Boy" Goodes was the man today, sublime and prolific in the 3rd, to shoulder in ahead of the Leftorium.
At the other end of the adoration scale, and I totally agree with the Superman, Batman statement; I thought Bevan won more contests than he lost and made more kicks than he missed. I'm on the McVeigh Wagon too, another goal, and except for one turnover, solid around the ground. How brave was his attempt in the final quarter? Who did they play on, McVeigh and Young Bevo? Whoever, wouldn't think they were outplayed, same as last week.
Hey Jude was on song to boot, look for him to boot one from 50+ against Essendont.
Also, Archives rang and asked how smooth does Benny Matthews look these days when he takes a necessarily rare possession?Last edited by voodooguru; 28 May 2007, 12:57 AM.I was wrong about Gerard and his hair.

Actually I agree pretty much with ROK. It was a solid win, no doubt about that, but I thought the Dogs were pretty disappointing, though this may reflect us having done our homework, as the pressure we applied on them was very good.
The link play through the middle in the first half was as good as I've seen from the swans recently, Eski didn't miss a beat without Tadhg, though he did make a few mistakes, presumably to avoid being labelled un-Sydney-like
Goodes' game was very encouraging, not quite Brownlow form but good to see him getting his hands on the ball a lot more this week, he helped out numerous times down back.
We never looked like losing the game, but the second half was very scrappy, quite a few spilled marks, missed targets and players slipping over, which might be a bit of a concern even though we were still in control of the game. Only disappointment was not maintaining the skill level of the first half. We know what you can do, guys, so show us by keeping the same level of concentration for the entire game! Otherwise a solid afternoon's work.Comment

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment
