Application always mattered. However it went without saying that both Abletts apply themselves. Therefore the distinguishing factor is the skill and smarts that G Ablett has relative to L Ablett. Hence why I think he is a better footballer and always will be.

From what I've read on this thread, most of us agree that GA has superior skill but LA has more grunt.... different type of players with different playing styles to suit their different strengths and weaknesses....so as I said originally , I think that puts them on par with each other.

What does "more grunt" mean? How does that translate onto the footy field? And is it "most" who think that? What can LA do that GA can't?

he is one of the hardest workers in the comp

there is no way anyone could say luke is a better player, they could like luke better. Haven seen gary jnr live a few times i have to say he busts his guts, he isnt the most skilful player himself at times, but he is a gutsy player who is hard at it.

I think people are misreading what bloods is saying, i thought he just said gary was basically the better player of the two and people take that to mean he said luke is hopeless, which isnt related.
Theres not much left to say

OK... would you trade Gary to have Luke & Nathan?

Or would you just keep Gary?

I think NOG is a very good player and perfectly suited to the Swans but there is no doubting Gary is a better player.

Yep he can,but each of them play to there own strengths and weaknesses which vary.If LA works his butt off to keep the ball in play so that he can lay if off to a forward who kicks the winning goal,is that the same as kicking the winning goal your self?

His in and under work is better, he tackles better, and he can can kick 60 mts off one step, not to mention his team orientated desperation.

Exactly - I think people confused a relative measure and made it an absolute binary one!
