    Don't kick it to Hall

    Deja Vu?!?!?

End reliance on Hall: Roos reveals Swans plan to climb league ladder
Roos revealed to The Canberra Times yesterday he would instruct his midfielders to concentrate more on kicking goals themselves than expecting full-forward Hall to carry the side to victory.
Hehehe. Has someone shown him the midfields kicking accuracy?

It's what we on here and at the game have been saying all year. Why has it taken so long for it to sink in at the club?

Exactly what they did last weekend and what they said they were going to do a few weeks ago. And ironically, by trying to get Hall fewer goals, they'll probably land up creating more chances for him - if they actually do what they say they want to do, that is.

Thank God. We have one of the most potent forward lines in the comp and for the first 6 rounds of the years we were only kicking it to one of them. Our forward line was one dimensional, but now opposition backlines might have to work a bit harder.

I knew last week that we were in for a good day when Davo was targetted for the first 2 (I think) inside 50's. It was quite clear the instructions had changed - he obviously washed Kirky's Cortina last week.

Good plan Roosy, it should've started in Round 1.
The Dogs don't really have experienced tall defenders that can match Hall, I'm expecting he'll kick his fair share of goals despite having 3 defenders against him but I'm also a greater goal-kicking contribution from the midfield like last week.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

I noticed last week the midfielders went much deeper into the forward line and helped themselves to more goals. This also places a lot more pressure on the opposing backs when trying to clear.

I posted last Sunday that there were some obvious changes to the game plan, this being one of them.

this makes me angry, I have been saying this for years..even in our GF winning year. why put so much focus on Hall when we have so much other talent in the team....I also said the same thing when Lockett was playing...we basically give it to the oposition. They double man Hall and he can't get to the ball and then we bash him the week after the game for having a bad game, when in fact most of the time it is just a bad game plan to start with.

                UGGHHHH...so fustrated at this

He obviously has a plan B...which is suprisingly similar to plans C, D, E and F....which go something like: "If all else fails, Refer to plan A". This ones a fair way into the alphabet.

Implementing a plan B is one thing. Actually implementing a plan B during a match is another.

It looks to me that every plan needs to be carefully trained. The question is if our players are up to it. You need lots of talent to change it on a fly of the game, which probably is causing some problems. The last two lost games against the Kangaroos and the Saints prove that.
Changing from plan A to plan B during a game proves to be very difficult for our players if it wasn't rehearsed very well.

How so. Those games - particularly the Saints game - showed they can play a different game plan...the game plan when you don't tackle, don't try and get first hands on the ball at clearances, and aim to kick the ball to the opposition rather than a team mate. Merits of such a plan are questionable in terms of winning games, but there is no doubt the team showed they can play it well when their minds are set on it.
