We often play badly and manage to win. Tonight, a bevy of very poor umpiring directly resulted in denying us several goals and giving several to goals Essendon. If the umpries had not made these errors, it is probable that we would have won despite playing @@@@e.
See above. I thought the umpiring was very bad tonight, but no worse than Sydney's play.
No intensity at the ball and man, plus too focussed on the perfect forward pass.

We were horrible at the contests and 50/50's. Our midfield was smashed.
At one stage it was 29 clangers to 8. That is indefensible.
Hall - why does he insist on those poky little kicks. For goodness sake we are 16 down and he stabs it to a Dons player. What a dill. He struggles between the ears a lot of the time.
Malceski to the forward line. Was it because he was knackered at the end of the 3rd Q. He made quite a few mistakes tonight. Why on earth he wants to handpass when he is running through the middle has got me stuffed.
Kennelly wasn't fit. Cant lose 2kg with a virus and expect to play well at that level.
Ablett - well he was right up there with Buchanan with his disposal. First 3 kicks went to Dons players on their own.
Will J Bolton ever kick another goal?
Bevan - someone tell him you dont wear roller skates when you play footy.
Did Mathews play?
Now Schneider has been really good up forward and in the midfiled this year. Last line of defence!!!
ROK, tell me McVeigh wasn't drinking beers with you in the crowd.
Those at the game, can you advise if they decided to ignore Nick Davis in the 2nd half.
Goodes has officially got a BIG HEAD.
Teddy, where were thou in the 2nd half.
Buchanan we should call mister 20% because that is about how effective his disposals are. People they tell me some people are affected by a full moon which it was tonight. Anyone with a snap apart from Buchy and J Bolton at the death, but our luck was out tonight when 32 pounced on it.
Leo Barry, Ryan O"Keefe (dont let this man have a set shot though) Craig Bolton and Schneider perhaps, take a bow, the rest of you lot are the booby prize in the after match raffle.
But I think it is more related to our skill level.
Spida looked a class above the rest of our team as regards basic skills and he is old and slow. At one stage at a centre bounce he gave it perfctly to our midfielders.....2 of them fumbled even though he sheperded so in the end he went down and got it himself and cleared it out....this is how it's done boys.

Try very soft forward line pressure and our achilles heel, trouble playing if there is a drop of water on the ground. Definitely top of the ground team.
I thought Kennelly had very little impact on the game. Not his usual amount of run.
Goodes has to get on the meditation bandwagon.
Hall needs to start taking contested marks.
MOL was killed by Ryder.
Malceski went out of the game a fair bit after that bump.
O'Keefe took a while to get into the game.
Everitt and Jolly were pretty ordinary tonight.
Ablett tried hard as usual.
Monty was great around the ground, just needs to stay out of the F50.
Leo and CBolts were both pretty good held there own.
Ted was Great early, should've nailed that goal instead of passing it off.
Kirk was reasonable, but what was that dicky little kick backwards which the Bombers got there first goal in the 4th qtr.
Schneids did OK.
The rest need to take a good hard look at themselves.
Oh, and so does our Skills Coach. Do we have one?
People were worried about who would rip us a new one. Lloyd or Lucas. The answer was Fletcher. How good is he about reading the play. gets his long arms in the way. Even when he was standing still the ball lands in his lap. He (along with Michael) were the big difference tonight, IMHO.
They really try for a clean disposal instead of a contested mark in the square.
Yep. Sure Hall is pretty crap at pack marks, but we have the potential for someone else to do so (eg: Everitt, Jolly, Richards) and we can always bring the ball to ground and hope for a crumbing goal. It puts the defence under far more pressure if you sometimes bomb it long to a lot of one-on-ones rather than messing about with little kicks and letting the opposition fill the spaces.

But it's not about skill levels - we're blue collar remember. It's about doing team things. Obviously no one did the team things tonight and that's why we looked so poor. I blame Davis - he kicked MOL's 3 goals. Selfish stuff Davo.
unbelievably bad disposal and general inability to hold the ball in the air or on the ground. I was using the dew excuse except it didn't seem to be affecting the Bombers all that much. Second to the ball for most of the night. Hall's hands need a medical. The leadership group need a kick up the kyber.
Early, not enough Cortina. two strong wins and we lost the edge that got us those wins. Second to the contest, not enough numbers at the contest and hanging back in one-on-ones, waiting for the Essendon player to make a mistake. Half-second slow, cruising.
Good, not great, game from the Bombers put the pressure on and we semi-cracked. Luckily, we lost by one, not two.
You guys are cheating and using more than 15 words!

Guess what NMW, thats what we did the the previous 2 weeks. When we did kick it long our slow labourious midfield didn't have the legs to get to the fall of the ball. It was nearly always 3 on 1 in our forward 20 then we refused to chase out of the forward line.
That game tonight really highlighted how slow our midfield is. We were led to the ball all night and our centre bounce work was brain snappingly insipid apart from late 2nd Q and late lastQ.
