The last thing we want is Dempster as a forward target. Running off half-back or on the wing is the perfect position for him because he looms as one of the obvious uber-flood busters. His goal was one of the highlights last night because you could see exactly what was going to happen as soon as Craig Bolton gathered the ball in the back pocket.

Despite Montys poor goal kicking I still had him in our best last night.
Starting on the bench, when it looked like the flood gates were about
to open he comes on and is instrumental in a goal. Each time he came
on to the field I thought we looked better and started to get more
midfield ball. The Rhino of previous is what we are missing. He was
always a 2 or 3 goal contributor each game

I don't know why, but last night we were the best team in the final five minutes of each quarter. Outside of that we were rubbish. It was those five minutes per quarter that kept us in the game.

He's never been that. Kicking at that rate would give him 40-50 goals for a home and away season and the most he's ever managed is 30. He scored 32 last year but that included 5 in the finals.

He is down on his normal contribution but he's been playing even deeper than normal. A goal a game would be more than handy from him.

Did anyone else notice that his final goal that he kicked, (which was to keep us in with some sort of chance) he actually kicked with his left foot!
He was under no pressure, running into an open goal.
and to make matters worse he was on the harder side of the ground for a left footed kick!

I had to grin... what a showpony!

He was on his left, he would have had to break stride/change direction to get on to his right; every other player in the team would have done that apart from Nick, he doesn't need to. I honestly don't think there would be 10 guys in the AFL who could kick with that with their wrong foot at full tilt in that kind of situation, knowing they would nail it just about every time.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

changes what changes we never make changes unless they are forced or they are up and coming ressies who have done nothing wrong and actually offer something being bounced back to canberra because we have to give a proven hack a go for a few games.
hopefully this week the outs will read mcveigh and bevan with the ins being schmidt and crouch, and if not crouch because he isnt 100% give laidlaw a run.

Maybe too he did not even have to think about it. he just went with what felt right - though I am sure he had stella in mind as he kicked it.

Most sides tire of constant pressure and flooding. That allowed us to come back against Essendon. It's why we struggle against full-strength Adelaide (they can maintain it longer) and why we were only able to come back against the 'Roos in the last quarter.

That's about having appropriate AFL-level skills. If you are running on your left side then you should be able to kick with your left. Otherwise you need to break stride.

The microscope is also on Bevan, he continuely bombs it in to players who are out numbered..and Matthews, he continuely chips it to players under pressure. Dempster,he needs to lift his work rate and get to more contests.

Let's give Moore or Schmit a fair dinkum chance...and lets have a look at Laidlaw, or Jesse White, in top company.
McVeigh definitely needs to be dropped to make way for a Schmidt or Laidlaw, Bevan also needs to be given a stint in the 2s. I'm undecided about Mathews and Dempster just needs to be given time, preferably in the seniors, so that he can gain experience.

                                Dempster is quality.

I agree that Laidlaw and Schmidt deserve a run in favour of Bevan and McVeigh.
